Annual Lexington 5k "Alumni Race"
Now in its 14th year, the Lexington 5k has served as a great way to bring together the local running community to race on the team's storied home course. Lexington High School Cross Country/Track & Field alumni have been coming together the morning after Thanksgiving to compete, relive the glory days, and burn off some Turkey Day calories since 2008. All proceeds benefit the Lexington High School Cross Country program.
Since 1970 the nearly all-road course, which begins at Lincoln Field and winds its way through the neighborhood surrounding LHS, has served as the home of The Minutemen. Originally 2.9 miles, in 2014 the course was extended to the full 5k course it is today. The course features some challenging hills that have contributed to the team's unmatched success in the Middlesex League over the past 53 seasons.
