CUTHBERTSON AND SCHROEDER HANG WITH THE BEST IN NEW ENGLAND

Meet Information
New England Weight Throw Championships
February 26, 2025
Providence Career and Technical School - Providence, RI
RESULTS
BOSTON, MA - "Weight Week" as its called in Lexington, is what LHS's Bomb Squad trains for all winter. There are three championship meets in eight days and unless athletes hit the Nationals' standard, when its done, the Weights are put to bed and the Hammers come out of the shed.
Training this season has been particularly difficult at Lexington, as the snow and ice that covers LHS's throwing facility has demanded a whole other level of discipline and focus than in prior years. Despite the tough conditions, junior Ainsley Cuthbertson has risen to the challenge and become one of the best in the region in the 20lb. Weight Throw. While she was not at her best in Providence - she finished 15th with a throw of 44'2.75" - she has already qualified for the New Balance Indoor Nationals in March and currently ranks top-50 in the nation. Fellow classmate, and former hockey player, Franz Schroeder made his debut for The Minutemen indoors this winter. Wednesday's New England Championships were the culmination of a great first season with the 25lb. Weight. He turned in a mark of 54'6" to finished 24th overall in a very deep and talented field.
Up Next
Cuthbertson will be LHS's lone representative at the New England Championships this Saturday, March 1st at Reggie Lewis. Action begins in Roxbury at 1pm.
