RESULTS
BOSTON, MA - After just completing three major Weight Throw competitions in the last week and a half, junior Ainsley Cuthbertson was back at Reggie Lewis to throw the Shot Put at the New England Championships. Things were not off to a good start for the LHS junior, as after two throws she sat in 12th place, with just seven advancing to finals. However, on her final attempt to earn a spot in the finals, Cuthbertson delivered a clutch throw of 38'5.75" to jump up into seventh. On her second throw of finals, Cuthbertson managed to improve her best mark to 39'2.75". However, she was still in seventh, behind Bloomfield's (CT) Payton Sirdine, who had thrown 39'5.25" earlier in the competition. Then, on her final throw of the meet Cuthbertson delivered. Her throw of the eight-pound ball crashed down at 39'5.50", which earned her sixth place and All-New England honors by just a quarter-inch. LHS's top thrower has already had a tremendous season, but Saturday's performance was about as clutch as it gets.
Up Next
Cuthbertson will join the rest of The Minutemen in two weeks as they compete at the New Balance Indoor Nationals. Action will take place over four days at the TRACK at New Balance beginning on Thursday, March 13th. All events can be livestreamed for free HERE.
