BOSTON, MA - A small group of LHS's speed and power athletes traveled into Roxbury this weekend to compete at the three-day Northeast Invitational. The meet features a number of events seldom contested in Massachusetts, despite them being the standard across the country. Events such as the Weight Throw, 200m, and 400m all featured some of Lexington's best student-athletes.
On Friday night, Ainsley Cuthbertson continued her strong junior campaign in the 20lb. Weight Throw. Cuthbertson placed second overall in the event with a new personal best of 46'0". That mark moved her up the national rankings to US #25, and she was LHS's top finisher on the boys' and girls' sides of the competition. Fast-forward to Sunday, where the highlight of the day came from sophomore Sheryas Hanchinamani. Last week, LHS's young sprinter earned a silver medal in the 300m at the Freshman/Sophomore Meet, and was excited to see how he would fair against a deeper field in the 400m this week. Hanchinamani turned in a stellar run of 52.35 seconds. That mark placed him eighth overall and was a personal best for the sophomore.
