Meet Information
MIAA Meet of Champions
February 21, 2026
the TRACK at New Balance - Boston, MA

RESULTS

BOSTON, MA - After last week's Division 1 Championship saw The Minutemen empty the tank to chase team gold, this week's MIAA Meet of Champions was all about the individuals. While the lack of a team competition took some of the excitement out of the meet, Lexington had a number of athletes deliver great performances at Boston Landing on Saturday.

Franz Schroeder competed in the first event of the day, the boys shot put. While the LHS senior entered the meet with PR of over 51 feet, he was seeded 15th in a loaded field of throwers, and competed in the unseeded flight. In those prelims, Schroeder delivered a decent mark of 49'6.75". However, it was unlikely that would put him in the top-9, which is what he needed to advance to the finals. Field events, especially at the high school level, can be fickle, though. As the seeded flight progressed, many of the top throwers could not find their forms, and began to crack under the pressure as the rounds progressed. In the end, Schroeder squeaked into the finals as the seventh seed, where he took full advantage of the opportunity. After a throw of 50'9.50" in the fifth round, he uncorked a bomb on his final throw. Schroeder loaded up the ball with chalk to ensure an accurate measurement, and when it crashed down in the sector, it left a mark measured at 52'2". Schroeder's performance shot him up the leaderboard, earned him a fourth place finish, and a spot at next week's New England Championships.

Over on the oval, a pair of LHS girls punched their tickets to New Balance Nationals. First up was senior Felice Haverly, who competed in the 300m. Seeded 11th, Haverly ran from the third of five heats. She blasted out from the start, and ran away with the heat. Her time of 40.76 seconds was a personal best, #2 in LHS history, and hit the nationals' standard on the nose. In the end the performance held up to place her seventh overall in a loaded event that saw two girls shatter the previous meet record that stood for over a decade. Next on the track for the Lex girls was sophomore Ella Tyson. The only member of the LHS distance squad who lined up on Saturday, Tyson had the opportunity to shine in the 2 mile, and did just that. Whitinsville Christian's Emily Flagg took the field out in a torrid pace, which led Tyson to come through the opening mile around 5:20. From there, the LHS sophomore dug deep, and battled through the final eight laps of the race. In the end, she crossed the line fifth overall with a sensational time of 10:57.85. That time is #3 on LHS's all-time indoor 2 mile list, and earned her a spot nationals next month.

Other Highlights from the Meet
  • Senior captain Ainsley Cuthbertson won the girls 20lb weight throw with a meet record mark of 54'10"; she also earned bronze in the shot put with a throw of 39'4".
  • After tying his PR of 7.51 seconds in the prelims, senior captain Simon Tandeih placed third in the finals of the boys 55m hurdles with a time of 7.64 seconds; he also placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 22'4".
  • Schroeder earned silver in the boys 25lb weight throw with a best mark of 57'6.50".
  • Haverly anchored the girls 4x200m of sophomore Sabina Green, freshman Abbey Kohut, and senior Julianna Mathurin to a fifth place finish with a season best time of 1:45.99.
  • In the boys 300m, junior Cayden Chambers placed seventh overall with a time of 35.23 seconds.
  • The only freshman in the field, Kohut finished 11th in the girls 55m hurdles with a time of 8.82 seconds.
  • Sophomore Natalie Bielat ran 3:03.52 to finish 13th in the girls 1000m.
  • Senior Cleavon Manor Jr (19'7") finished 17th in the boys long jump.
  • Chambers finished 21st (6.72) in the boys 55m dash.
