STEEPLECHASERS MAKE THEIR DEBUT AT WESTON TWILIGHT DISTANCE CARNIVAL

Meet Information
Weston Twilight Distance at Regis
May 3, 2025
Regis College - Weston, MA
RESULTS
WESTON, MA - It was a race against time at the Weston Twilight Distance carnival at Regis College. The meet began at 5pm, but thunderstorms were forecasted to roll in within 90 minutes of the first gun. While the weather did interrupt the meet, LHS's steeplechase crew has been preparing for this meet for months and was not going to let mother nature rain on its parade.
Before the weather delay, freshman Janie Conrad and sophomore Erin Ehmann toed the line in the Girls 2000m Steeplechase. Conrad was locked in a battle with Westford Academy senior Rosey Deeks for the entirety of the race. In the end the LHS freshman settled for silver as she crossed the line in 7:26.73. That marked best the previous school record in the event set by Alex Wolf (LHS '17). Ehmann (7:51.76) overcame an early fall on the water jump to finish ninth overall in her first time competing in the event. After a significant weather delay, the boys finally took to the track for the 2k Steeple. Junior Sam Finch delivered a very strong performance. Running in the seeded section, Finch led most of the race but was clipped at the line to finish second overall in a personal best of 6:30.51. That time ended up landing him with the bronze medal as Arlington's Daichi Collins won the event by a wide margin from the unseeded section.
Other Highlights
Up Next
It is once again rivalry week this week as The Minutemen head to Reading to take on the Rockets. It will be a battle of the unbeatens for both the boys and girls, with the winners guaranteeing themselves a share of the Middlesex League Liberty Division crowns. Action begins at Reading Memorial High School at 4pm on Wednesday, May 8th.
