SNOW, RAIN, WIND, AND COLD COULDN'T STOP THE MINUTEMEN AGAINST BELMONT

Meet Information
Belmont Dual Meet
April 7, 2026
Lexington Center Track - Lexington, MA

RESULTS

LEXINGTON, MA - Volatile early spring weather is a right of passage here in Massachusetts. On Tuesday, as The Minutemen opened up Middlesex League action against Belmont, athletes experienced every bit of that volatility. The meet began with snow and rain, which eventually gave way to sun and driving wind, all wrapped up with temps that felt in the 20s by the end of the night. Despite the brutal weather, Lexington came away from the meet with two decisive victories. The boys won by a score of 91-45, while the girls took home the win 108-23.

The Minutemen had a number of strong performances on Tuesday. Senior Franz Schroeder was on his game in the throws. He began the day in the hammer where he threw a PR of 188'5". That US #18 mark won the event, and qualified him for New Balance Outdoor Nationals. Later in the meet he was back in the discus where he took the victory by nearly 10 feet with a throw of 126'5". That mark was enough to qualify for the Middlesex League Championship. Finally, Schroeder wrapped up his big day with a win and an MIAA Division 1 qualifying mark of 48'1.75" in the shot put. Over on the high jump apron, senior Cleavon "the Frog Man" Manor Jr squared off with Wakefield's JaMauri Belmer. After clearing his first attempt at 5'10", the bar moved up to 6'0". The Frog Man leapt over the bar on his second attempt, a feat that took the Wakefield senior three tries to achieve. At that point the pair decided to move the bar all the way up to 6'8". Despite a number of solid attempt, neither were able to get over the height cleanly. In the end, Manor Jr took home the victory, and qualified for Divisionals in the process. Perhaps the best event of the day for the LHS boys was the 2 mile. Junior Trevor Stevens led from wire-to-wire, and crossed the line in 9:52.87. The 2 mile also saw the return of sophomore Rhys Behling. An injury cost him the end of his cross country season, and the entirety of the indoor season. But, after 178 days away from racing, Behling was back in action on Tuesday. The sophomore raced like a metronome from the gun, as he clicked off splits no more than a few tenths different throughout the race. In the end he finished second with a time of 10:07.85. Finally, senior captain Liam Singh broke out the golden broom to finish off the sweep with a time of 10:10.23, as all three athletes dipped under the League qualifying standard.

Things got off to a strong start for the Lex girls in the first two track events of the meet. Senior Felice Haverly made her debut in the 400m hurdles. And, while it was a rocky lap around the track that nearly saw her fall over the 10th barrier, she still crossed the line first in a time of 1:09.55. That time qualified her for the Division 1 Championship. Next on the oval was sophomore Natalie Bielat. Fresh off a strong showing at New Balance Indoor Nationals, Bielat laid back early in the race, before she took the lead as the field approached the halfway point. After a solid third lap, the sophomore unleashed a furious final quarter mile. With a last lap of 75.22 seconds, Bielat crossed the line first with a personal best of 5:22.87, which gave her the Divisional standard in the mile. Over at the long jump runway, in her own signature style, senior captain Aubrey Deardorf delivered a big jump on her first attempt. That mark of 17'10.75" won the event, and qualified her for Divisionals. Meanwhile, freshman Abbey Kohut fouled her first two attempts, as she could not find the board. However, on her final attempt, the freshman dropped a bomb. Kohut landed 17'5" into the sand with a legal jump. That mark also gave her the Divisional standard, and was a big personal best.

Other Highlights for the Boys
  • Sophomore Bennett Siino qualified for the League meet in the 200m with a time of 23.19 seconds.
  • The League standard in the 800m was achieved by both junior Arjun Raha (2:04.17) and sophomore Matteo Sanchez de Rojas (2:04.57), as the two finished first and second respectively.
  • In the mile, senior Sam Finch outkicked Melrose's Henry McCormack to win the race in a League qualifying time of 4:42.19.
  • Senior captain Aidan Raney won the 110m hurdles with a League qualifying time of 16.60 seconds.
  • Along with Manor Jr's big day, sophomore Henry Moehring (5'10") qualified for League in the high jump.

Other Highlights for the Girls
  • Senior captain Ainsley Cuthbertson threw a PR of 170'10" to win the hammer throw.
  • Cuthbertson also qualified for Divisionals in the discus with a throw of 111'5"; sophomore Evelyn Radcliffe delivered a League qualifier of her own with a throw of 96'5".
  • In the 100m, Deardorf (12.60) and sophomore Sabina Green (12.97) both qualified for the League Championships.
  • Freshman Emma Kosnik returned from an injury that kept her out all winter, and qualified for League in the mile with a personal best time of 5:36.39.
  • The 2 mile saw sophomore Isabella Gorospe qualify for League with a time of 12:17.15.
