LHS JV SQUAD FINISHES SEASON WITH STRONG PERFORMANCES IN BURLINGTON
Meet Information

Burlington High School - Burlington, MA
RESULTS
BURLINGTON, MA - After poor weather forced the league to take away junior varsity competition from meets earlier in the season, Middlesex League Commissioner, and LHS Athletic Director, Naomi Martin, arranged for one final opportunity for the league's JV athletes to compete. That chance came this past Monday, as LHS's JV squad traveled to Burlington to see how they stacked up against the rest of the Middlesex League.
While there were a number of standout performances for LHS, perhaps no athlete seized the moment quite like Adeline Bordok. The LHS sophomore competed in the pole vault, where she cleared 6'0" and 6'6" on her first attempts. The bar then moved up to 7'0", which was the standard to make it to the Varsity League Championship on Wednesday. After two misses, Bordok stood alone on the runway with one final attempt in front of her. Sure enough, she nailed the attempt, and punched her ticket to League with a new personal best. Later in the meet, Bordok managed to pick up the win in the shot put with a throw of 24'8.50". Another member of the Lex girls' team who had a big day was sophomore Ella Pan. She competed in the 100m hurdles, and was simply dominant in route to a win by over a half-second. In the end, she won the event with a big PR of 17.52 seconds.
In the boys' meet, the pole vault was once again where much of the drama came. Senior Brendan McVey was at the top of his game in the event as he cleared 9'0" and 9'6" on first attempts. The 9'6" clearance sealed the victory for him, and allowed him to move the bar to whatever height he chose. Naturally, McVey took the opportunity to improve on his PR of 10'0" by just a little bit. Sure enough, on his first attempt at 10'1" he cleared with ease, and put a stamp on a strong competition. Meanwhile, over on the track, junior Ben Alperovich was blazing his way through the short sprints. He began the day by winning the 100m with a new personal best of 11.64 seconds. Shortly thereafter, the LHS junior took to the track again for the 200m. In that event, Alperovich was simply untouchable. He sprinted away from his competition, and stormed to a new PR of 23.69 seconds.
