AN ALL-AMERICAN PERFORMANCE IN THE 4xMILE BREAKS MA STATE RECORD

New Balance Outdoor Nationals Day 1
June 18, 2026
Franklin Field - Philadelphia, PA

RESULTS

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Minutemen returned to Historic Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania on Thursday for Day 1 of the New Balance Outdoor Nationals. Competing as Lexington Elite TC, LHS boasts a dozen athletes, who will compete in 15 different events throughout the four-day meet. While it may not be the most competitors Lexington has ever sent to Nationals, this is perhaps the most talented group. That star power was on full display on Thursday night, as the 4xMile made some history in the City of Brotherly Love.

Sophomore Janie Conrad, junior Callie Glenn, sophomore Ella Tyson, and sophomore Amelia Whorton
led off what is sure to be a sensational weekend of action for LHS. The quartet toed the line in the seeded section of the 4xMile, where they looked to avenge a disappointing seventh place finish that saw them land just off the podium at last year's meet. From the moment the gun was fired, it was clear that there would be no disappointment this time around. Conrad took the baton right to the lead pack around the first curve. She hung behind Purple TC (Ann Arbor Pioneer, MI) and Robinson (VA) through the first three laps, before unleashing a furious finish that brought her to the handoff in first place after a personal best split of 4:59.64. From there, Glenn took over, and locked horns with Purple TC's Hana Boggess. Through three laps the pair exchanged the lead multiple times. However, the blistering early pace left Glenn on empty in the final lap. Despite the pain in her legs, the LHS junior got the baton to Tyson in fourth place, still in position to land one of the top-six spots needed for All-American honors. Tyson battled through the four laps of her leg, a did enough to ensure that Whorton would get the baton with a chance to finish things off for their team. Sure enough, once Whorton got the stick, she went right to work. The superstar sophomore cruised around the oval, and quickly moved by Cow Harbor (Northport, NY) anchor Fiona King to pull her team back up into fourth place. With the top three teams well ahead, Whorton simply had to hold off any late charges from the teams behind her. Her final kick through the finish brought her across the line with a 4:51.39 split. That gave the Lex girls a final time of 20:20.53, earned them fourth place overall, and the All-American spot they chased since last year. Along with the the finish, the time turned in by Conrad, Glenn, Tyson, and Whorton was the 41st LHS record broken during the 2025-2026 year, and took down the all-time Massachusetts state record set by Newton South back in 2009. A simply sensational effort from a tremendous group of young athletes.
