THE MINUTEMEN TAME THE TANNERS IN LEXINGTON
Meet Information
Woburn Dual Meet
April 15, 2026
Lexington Center Track - Lexington, MA
RESULTS
LEXINGTON, MA - This past winter, when The Minutemen and the Tanners locked horns, Woburn's boys gave Lexington all it could handle. The meet came down to the relays, but in the end LHS prevailed by the narrow margin of 51-48. With that backdrop, there was a feeling, among some, that the Tanners would be able to come to Lexington and take down The Minutemen. That feeling was quickly put to bed, though, as after three-plus hours of competition, LHS's boys scored 89 points on their way to a 52-point victory. Meanwhile, the Lex girls continued their dominance. They allowed just four points, of a possible 82, on the track, and steamrolled their way to a 114 to 22 win of their own.
Things got off to a strong start for The Minutemen on the oval, as the team's one-two distance punch of juniors Patrick Noonan and Trevor Stevens ran away with the top two places in the mile. Noonan (4:26.67) crossed the line first, with Stevens (4:28.58) just strides behind him in second place, as each qualified for the MIAA Division 1 Championship. Sophomore Rhys Behling came across next with a time of 4:34.76, which qualified for the Middlesex League Championship. To show the depth of the team's mile strength, the trio led a total of eight LHS athletes to qualify for the League Meet during Wednesday's sections of the mile. Over on the infield, The Minutemen's jumps squad had a tremendous day in its own right. "The Frog Man," senior Cleavon Manor Jr, leapt over the bar at 6'4" to win the high jump. Along with matching his PR, that mark ranks him MA #5. The LHS senior also won the triple jump with an MA #8 performance of 43'8.5". Along with the big day by the Frog Man, senior captain Amari Mow began to find himself again on the long jump runway. Mow, who stars for LHS's basketball team during the winter, had a bit of rust that he needed to knock off last week. However, after signing to compete for Marquette University track & field team this past week, Mow was back to his winning ways. He delivered three jumps over 21 feet, with his first attempt of 21'8.50" being the best of the competition. Back on the track, junior Cayden "Showtime" Chambers went toe-to-toe with Woburn's Dawit Kulubya in the 400m. One of the best 400m hurdlers in the Bay State, Kulubya had already won the event earlier in the meet for the Tanners. Perhaps that took away some of his firepower, but Chambers left little doubt as to who was the class of the field in the quarter mile. The LHS junior cruised through the opening 200m, and poured it on down the homestretch as he won in a personal best and Division 1 qualifying mark of 51.23 seconds.
Throughout the winter, senior captain Aubrey Deardorf struggled to find the form in the long jump that made her an All-American last spring. Despite a PR of 19'9", Deardorf did not break the 18-foot barrier once indoors. That streak finally came to an end on Wednesday against Woburn, as on her second attempt, Deardorf delivered a leap of 18'2.50". She bested that mark on her final jump as she landed 18'3.50" into the pit to win the event with an MA #4 leap. Over on the track, Abbey Kohut made her season debut in the 100m hurdles. The freshman sensation was one of the top ninth graders in the nation over the 55m hurdles this past winter. On Wednesday, she became just the fourth LHS girl to ever dip under 16 seconds over 10 hurdles. Kohut won her race by over two seconds with a time of 15.88, which ranks MA #7. After resting last week against Belmont, sophomore Janie Conrad made her season debut against Woburn. She led wire-to-wire in the mile, and crossed the line with an MA #2 time of 5:08.53. Conrad then doubled back in the 800m where she went up against junior Callie Glenn (2:22.95) and sophomore Natalie Bielat (2:23.58). Conrad laid back early before unleashing a furious final 200m to hold off her teammates. She crossed the line first, and led both of her teammates to dip under the Division 1 qualifying standard. At the end of the meet, the Lex girls decided to roll out their top sprinters in the 4x100m for a litmus test. The quartet of Deardorf, sophomore Sabina Green, junior Natalie Seed, and Kohut passed that test with flying colors. They blazed around the oval, and crossed the line in a sizzling 49.43 seconds. For context, that performance was the second fastest in team history, and only ranks behind the team from Andover Phillips Academy among Bay State squads this spring.
