RESULTS: A-RACE
RESULTS: B-RACE
LEXINGTON, MA - Saturday morning saw the past two Middlesex League Champions go toe-to-toe. As reigning champions, The Minutemen mustered on the socially distanced starting line against the 2018 League Champs, the Arlington Spy Ponders. Despite being shorthanded, LHS's boys were led by a strong one-two punch and simply had too much as they won their second victory of the season by a score of 24-31.

The Lexington boys were back and ready for action as they took on the very ambitious AHHHlington boys this Saturday morning. I don’t use the word ambitious lightly, and I only use it now because word on the grapevine is that the A-Town boys showed up two hours early at the LHS football field to do warmups and measure the course to make sure it was in fact a 5k (just like league *wink wink*). All I can say is at least the football field is getting some use right? Anyway, the Lexington boys were not intimidated by these tactics, and in fact they were most likely better rested because they all got two more hours of sleep than their opponents . I think the Lexington roosters may have still been finishing their crows when the Spy Ponders showed up. Welp, the extra rest showed as the Lexington boys really powered through to take home the win Saturday morning.
Lexington was missing two of their finest competitors Saturday who were out running in Colorado because the altitude of Mount Loring wasn’t enough. (don’t mention being out of state because of COVID) With that in mind, there would need to be some athletes who stepped up to the plate if the boys were going to come away with a win. Even though this is cross country and not baseball, there were a couple boys who really stepped up to the plate that helped lead Lexington to their home run, oops I mean win. Senior captain Maxim “Not So Slow-bodchikov” set a new standard for this year’s course Saturday morning by running a pretty speedy 16:42. Not too far behind junior Graham Bracken came barreling across the finish line to a time of 16:45. That time makes him the keeper of the third fastest time on the new and debatably improved home course. Next, came a trio of Arlington runners who disrupted the glorious stream of blue and gold.Unfortunately for them, their fourth and fifth place finishers were no match for Lexington’s depth. Lexington’s senior captain Nate Croke (17:21) placed sixth, soon after came juniors Noah Quadri who ran a 17:29 and Evan Eberle who ran a 17:39 (plus another 5k twenty four hours later because just one wasn’t enough for him) to seal a close victory for The Minutemen These boys really reminded everyone who was boss Saturday.
Also some highly impressive performances from waves two and three included sophomore Antonio Lopez who busted out a huge PR of 17:51. This amazing performance may have been due to the fact that Antonio’s dad, whom I had the pleasure of meeting, was there with fellow volunteer course director Lauren Sterne. Also, not too far behind inwave two came fellow classmate Aidan McPhee who ran a home course PR in 18:09. Next came junior Ollie DiCerbo (18:28) and senior captain Nick Everin (18:29) both running very respectable times on a course with such topography.
I must say these boys do not disappoint! It was very fun to witness and I cannot wait to see them lace up next race against our archrivals from the Wu.
Until next time!
