RESULTS
BELMONT, MA - The Minutemen traveled to Belmont for their final dual meet of the regular season. In the first five meets of the season, Lexington's girls have been undefeated and unchallenged in the Middlesex League as they won each meet by an average of 25 points. Against Belmont, their dominance was on full display. LHS took the top five spots on their way to a 15-48 victory. The boys meet had a bit more drama as the Marauders came in with a 4-1 record in a tie for the Liberty Division lead. While Belmont's Jared Rife took the victory in 15:37, The Minutemen took the next six spots on their way to a 20-39 win. With that, LHS finished of the regular season with a 4-2 record.
Freshman Janie Conrad took the race from wire-to-wire for the Lex Girls. She ran the opening mile in 6:05 and continued to maintain that pace throughout Belmont's 3-mile course on her way to victory in 18:16. That time was the fastest run on Belmont's course in recent memory. Behind Conrad, sophomore Alycia Charest (19:10) turned in a tremendous race to place second overall. She was followed by junior captain Meghan Caldera in 19:29. Next across the line was sophomore Callie Glenn (19:46) and junior captain Thayer DiCerbo (19:47) to round out the top-five. Sophomore Erin Ehmann was sixth for The Minutemen in 19:55. Senior Brett Castro came across the line in 20:30 to finish seventh for LHS. Junior Prachi Aggarwal (21:18), freshman Talia Rech (21:19), and senior Leontine Meunier (21:24) rounded out the varsity squad for Lexington.
Behind Rife's strong run, The Minutemen were led by sophomore Patrick Noonan who cruised across the line in 15:51 to place second overall. Senior James Joseph and sophomore Eric House battled down to the wire to finish in 16:07 and 16:08 respectively. With that the pair finished third and fourth. Sophomore Caleb Ford (16:23) broke away from the pack and crossed the line in fourth place. Next was freshman Ethan Wang (16:30) and junior Liam Singh (16:31) who outlasted Belmont's pack of four runners to seal the victory for Lexington. Along with the top-six, senior Nathan Cunningham (16:40) and captain Max Zhang (16:43) breezed through the course to place 12th and 13th overall. With the victory, The Minutemen had to do some scoreboard watching to see how things would shake out in the Liberty Division standings.
Should Woburn have taken down Arlington, and Reading beat Winchester, there would have been a five-way tie for the regular season crown. The Rockets got the job done. However, Arlington was not to be denied, though and took the win over the Tanners and the Liberty Division title.
Up Next
With the regular season over, The Minutemen turn their eyes to championship season. The 54th Middlesex League Championships are scheduled for Monday, October 28th. Unlike the Track & Field League Championships, the Cross Country edition features junior varsity and freshman divisions along with the championship division. Action will begin at Woburn Country Club beginning at 2:30pm.
