Meet Information
63rd Annual Catholic Memorial Invitational
October 19, 2024
Franklin Park - Boston, MA
RESULTS
BOSTON, MA - After a successful return to the Catholic Memorial Invitational last October, The Minutemen were back this year at historic Franklin Park for the 63rd edition of the storied meet. The Lex Girls were on their game from the time the gun fired, and simply ran away from the field. LHS won with 58 points, while their closest competitors - Exeter (NH) - scored 100 points to finish second. The Minutemen fought hard to earn bronze in the Boys Red Race with 67 points. Pinkerton Academy (NH) won the race with 35 points, while Lowell was second with 63.
As she has done all season, star freshman Janie Conrad led the way for The Minutemen. The ninth grader may not have had her best stuff at Franklin Park, but she stayed tough as she grinded her way through the middle of the race, and finished strong to place seventh overall in 19:24.9. Sophomore Callie Glenn turned in a gutsy performance of her own. After a conservative opening 1.5k that had her in 35th place, Glenn charged through the field over the latter of the of the 5k to place 10th overall in a time of 19:43.0. Next for LHS was sophomore Erin Ehmann, who turned in a season best of 19:54.1 to place 13th overall. Fellow classmate Alycia Charest was fourth across the line for the Lex Girls with a time of 20:03.7 to place 16th. Junior captain Meghan Caldera was the fifth runner who sealed the victory for her teammates. Her time of 20:25.1 placed 25th overall. Rounding out the LHS squad was sophomore Josie Bettencourt (20:58.1) and junior captain Thayer DiCerbo (21:19.1). The two placed 39th and 50th respectively.
The boys races are divided up into two divisions, with the Red Race - where LHS competed - having the greater depth of talent in the field. Despite a hot pace early on by the leaders, sophomores Patrick Noonan and Trevor Stevens laid back in the pack in the early stages of the race, as the two crossed the 1.5k mark in 15th and 16th respectively. By the 3k mark they had moved up to 5th and 6th overall. From there Noonan continued to surge, and battled his way to a fourth place finish, just behind Lowell's Jimmy Kelly, in a time of 16:18.7. Stevens struggled over the final mile, but still gutted his way to finish 12th in 16:50.0. Behind LHS's top two, senior captain Max Zhang led a great pack of five through the early stages of the race. As the crew crossed the two-mile mark they were only separated by a few seconds. From there, Zhang pulled away and finished 21st overall in 17:07.6. He was followed by freshman Rhys Behling. The Minutemen's breakout performer of the meet finished 23rd overall in 17:10.1. The all-important fifth man for LHS was sophomore Owen Ross. He crossed the line in 26th place with a time of 17:22.3. Seniors Nathan Cunningham (17:27.5) and James Joseph (18:00.2) were the final two across the line for Lexington as they placed 27th and 40th overall.
