WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY - After earning a runner-up finish, their highest finish at the MIAA All-State Championships since 2016's title winning team, the Lex girls traveled to one of the toughest courses around to compete in the Nike Cross Northeast Regionals. Competing as LEX ELITE, The Minutemen toed the line with the best schools from New England, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. When the dust settled, the seven underclassman that make up LHS's girls' team turned in a tremendous effort en route to a sixth place finish. That marks that best finish by any LHS boys' or girls' team in school history, and put an incredible cap on a dream season.
As she has all season long, freshman Janie Conrad led the way for the Lex girls. Conrad came across the line with a seventeenth place finish overall in a time of 19:14.30. That performance earned her third team all region honors. Junior captain Meghan Caldera turned in what was unquestionably her best performance of the season. Caldera was stride-for-stride with sophomore Alycia Charest throughout the entire race. The two came through the 2.5k mark in 71st and 72nd place overall before making a strong charge down the hill of Bowdoin Park to move up through the field. Caldera crossed the line in 56th place with a mark of 20:06.00, with Charest (20:06.80) just behind her in 57th place overall. Sophomore Erin Ehmann (20:17.90) turned in a solid performance of her own as she finished 77th. And, it was fellow classmate Callie Glenn who was the all-important fifth runner for LHS. Glenn finished 84th overall in a time of 20:26.00. Along with the top-five, freshman Ella Tyson (20:31.90) capped off her debut season for The Minutemen with an 89th place finish. Junior captain Thayer DiCerbo was LHS's final finisher, as she came through in 153rd overall in a time of 21:28.50.

With the cross country season now in the books, it is worth taking a look back at the fantastic season the student-athletes from Lexington just completed. Already a pair of young teams, The Minutemen were injected with another shot of youth in the form of a trio of freshmen that made a massive impact on the team's fortunes come championship season. That combined with the steady leadership from the team's captains helped to guide LHS back to its winning ways. Both the boys' and girls' teams were able to return to the winners' circles at the Middlesex League Championships for the first time since 2019. In addition, they were one of just three schools to qualify both teams for the All-State Championships. In Lexington, we preach the "one team" mentality. This is not a cliche or a buzz-line, rather it is where we find our strength. Through success and triumph this season, support among the team never waivered. Each athlete challenged each other to stay dedicated to the team's goals, and the results spoke for themselves. It was a pleasure to watch these teams grow and develop this season, and it will be a thrill to watch them look to take the next step as we look ahead to the Fall of 2025!
