Meet Information
25th Annual Clipper Relays
September 6, 2025
Maudslay State Park - Newburyport, MA

RESULTS

NEWBURYPORT, MA - The Minutemen began the season, as is tradition, at Maudslay State Park for the annual Clipper Relays. The meet is unique on the team's race calendar as it features the team being split up into 3-person relays, with each leg running a loop just shy of 2 miles (the anchor leg's loop being about 80m longer than the first two). LHS's top girls team dominated from wire-to-wire. They bested runner-up Billerica by nearly 40 seconds with a time of 35:21 to earn their first title at Clippers in recent memory. The Minutemen were able to earn the victory in the boys' race as well. They came from behind on the final leg to win in 30:17. This marked the first time in team history that both the boys and girls walked away from Maudslay State Park victorious.

Early in the girls' race, sophomore Callie Glenn gave her team a large lead. Glenn delivered an opening split of 11:48 that built a lead that would not be relinquished by her relaymates. Sophomore Ella Tyson took the baton and carried it to the tune of a 12:06 split that widened the gap on Billerica. When Tyson handed off the stick to fellow classmate Janie Conrad, the Lex girls were confident their star would bring home the win. With a split of 11:27 run on the anchor's loop, Conrad cruised through the tape to earn the crown. Along with the strong performance by the top team, the Lex girls had a number of strong showings at Clippers. Junior captain Alycia Charest and freshman Emma Kosnick both turned in splits of 12:24. Sophomore Daphne Warren delivered a split of 12:47. Freshman Beatrix Koch-Cochrane was next with a split of 12:52. Meanwhile, senior captain Thayer DiCerbo (12:56), junior Josie Bettencourt (13:11), and sophomore Isabella Gorospe (13:29) rounded out the top-10 for LHS.

The Minutemen's top relay in the boys' race was made up by juniors Holden Cassity, Owen Ross, and Alden Hall. While Cassity did well on the opening leg with a split of 10:07, it was actually LHS's second team, led by sophomore Rhys Behling (10:00), that came to the exchange zone first. More on their finish later. After Cassity passed the baton, Ross (9:59) charged up through the field and put The Minutemen's top team in second place coming to the final exchange. From there, Hall quickly reeled in Lowell's anchor leg and was able to put a gap on him as the pair came out of the woods and charged down the final stretch. Despite a strong late surge by Lowell, Hall (10:09) held on to the win as he crossed the line in 30:17. While the top team took home the hardware, after LHS's B-team was buoyed by the split of Behling and a solid 10:09 leg by junior Finn O'Donnell, senior captain Liam Singh was in position to earn a podium finish. He emerged from the woods in third place with the anchor leg of St. John's Prep's top team hot on his heels. The Prep anchor passed Singh down the homestretch, but the captain dug deep and found another gear to match the move. The pair drag raced to the finish line, but in the end Singh was just out leaned at the line, and had to settle for fourth after a great split of 10:25. Despite the disappointing ending for the B-team, the 1-4 finish was the best combined result for a pair of LHS relays at this meet. Sophomore Andrew Zhang also delivered a fine performance as he ran 10:13 on the second leg of the C-team. Senior Will Parker led off the D-team with a 10:17 split of his own. Fellow classmate Sam Finch ran 10:20 split on the second leg of the F-team. And, it was senior Owen Kuder that was turned in The Minutemen's 10th best performance, as he anchored the C-team with a time of 10:42.

Up Next
The Minutemen return to action this Tuesday, September 9th for their home opener against Wakefield. The meet is a part of the Middlesex League's annual Liberty Division v. Freedom Division crossover series, which pits teams from the league's larger schools against the smaller schools. Despite the size difference, LHS is bound to have their hands full as the Warriors are consistently one of the top Cross Country / Track & Field programs in the Bay State. Action begins at Lincoln Park at 4:15pm. Live results can be round HERE.
