FIRST TIME SINCE 2016, LEXINGTON GOES BACK-TO-BACK AT LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP

Meet Information
Middlesex League Championship
October 27, 2025
Woburn Country Club - Woburn, MA

RESULTS

WOBURN, MA - The year was 2016. Obama was wrapping up his second term in office. Hamilton had just burst on the scene to become a Broadway hit. And, the Chicago Cubs clinched their first World Series since 1908. It was also the last time The Minutemen were able to win back-to-back boys' and girls' titles at the Middlesex League Championship. However, that all changed on Monday as the Lexington High School boys and girls turned in a pair of championship level performances to defend their titles against their League rivals. With 47 points, the boys held off stellar races by Arlington (59) and Reading (61) to earn victory. Meanwhile, the Lex girls earned a win of their own with 29 points overall. Winchester was the closest competitor with 45 points.

Highlights from the Co-Ed Freshmen Race
At the League Championship, the Freshmen Race is unique. Unlike their upperclassmen counterparts, ninth graders compete on a 3k course with both genders running in the same race. The team title is given to the school with the lowest combined score between its top five boys and girls. In the combined format, The Minutemen left little doubt. With a combined boys' and girls' score of 60 points, they bested Arlington by over 40 points for the team title. Along with that overall crown, Lexington had the top male and female finisher on the day. Kiran Green overcame the early lead of Melrose's Lincoln Schuyler in the latter half of the race, and went on to win going away with a time of 9:44.82. Ben Wszolek (10:12.75) returned from injury to earn the bronze medal for LHS. Next across the line was Andrew Dulgarian (10:20.40) who placed fifth overall. Ben Parker placed 10th overall in a time of 10:33.23. Then it was Kian Khani (10:39.38) who finished 14th. On the girls' side, LHS was buoyed by star freshman Emma Kosnik. The freshman took down the meet record - held by Melrose's Charlotte Tysail - that had stood since 2018 with a time of 11:03.86. Next across the line was Beatrix Koch-Cochrane, who placed fifth overall in a time of 11:50.06. She was followed closely by Victoria Davidson (12:19.81) who placed sixth. Jacqueline Yu (13:07.06) crossed the line 12th overall. And, it was Emma Arnold's (13:27.73) 16th place finish that sealed the victory for The Minutemen.

Highlights from the JV Races
From the time the gun fired in the JV Boys Race, junior Eric House and senior Sam Finch were on a mission to run away from the field. In fact, their 4:56 opening mile would have put them up with the leaders of the Championship Race that was run later in the afternoon. While their pace slowed over the second mile, the pair continued to challenge each other over the final mile of the race. With just over 1k to go, Finch had built a small gap on House. However, the LHS junior was able to reel him back in, in the final half mile. As the two appeared over the ridge at the top of the homestretch, House has retaken the lead. Despite Finch's best efforts, House's finishing kick was too much to handle, and he crossed the line first with a time of 15:48.17. That time shattered the previous JV course record - held by fellow classmate Alden Hall - by nearly 30 seconds. To his credit, Finch crossed the line with an impressive mark of his own, 15:52.50. The Minutemen went on to put two more athletes under the previous race record, as senior Owen Kuder (16:11.01) and sophomore Ethan Wang (16:14.23) finished third and fourth respectively. Along with the top four, junior Finn O'Donnell (16:16.36) broke out the golden broom to sweep the top five places for LHS. Then, sophomore Rohan Banerji (16:21.46) and junior Gabriel Ostrower (16:25.07) made it a clean sweep of the top seven places with their performances.

Not to be outdone, the Lex girls also broke out the golden broom to score 15 points in the JV Race. Sophomore Addie Haiar and junior Josie Bettencourt led the way for LHS, and found themselves in a classic duel throughout the first two miles. However, as they passed the 2-mile mark, Haiar began to pull away from her teammate. That lead would only grow over the final mile-plus, as Haiar crossed the line in 19:49.52 to earn the victory. Bettencourt earned the runner-up spot with a time of 20:21.32. Sophomore Isabella Gorospe turned in one of her best performances of the year, and grabbed the bronze medal with a time of 20:39.05. She was followed by fellow classmate Talia Rech (20:45.15), and senior Prachi Aggarwal (20:49.61), who closed out her LHS XC career with a massive personal best on the League course. Junior Allie Galloway (22:04.75) and sophomore Abelia Wood (22:13.77) rounded out the top-seven for the Lex girls as they placed 19th and 24th respectively.

Highlights from the
John DiComandrea Varsity Boys Race
After losing to archrival Reading earlier in the month, The Minutemen came to the Woburn Country Club with what all athletes dream of, a second chance. With their one-two punch of juniors Patrick Noonan and Trevor Stevens firing on all cylinders throughout much of the race on Monday, LHS took full advantage of that opportunity. Noonan and Stevens laid off the hot pace set by Belmont's Noah Geiger early on, and by the 2-mile mark had a share of the lead along with Reading senior Tim Connolly. As the group came over "hands-and-knees hill" for the final time, Connolly and Noonan began to separate from Stevens. The pair barreled down the hill to the creak bridge, and, with just more than 1k left, Noonan was fighting hard to hold on to the Reading senior. In the end, Connolly was not to be denied. He crossed the line first with a time of 15:03.82, while LHS's star junior came across in 15:13.48 for a well earned silver medal finish. Next across the line for The Minutemen was Alden Hall. The junior worked his way up through the field over the latter half of the race to place eighth overall in a time of 15:44.35. Next across the finish was senior captain Liam Singh. In the biggest race of his career to date, Singh gave his team the best he had on Monday, as he finished 10th overall in a time of 15:46.87. Fellow captain, Stevens, struggled over the final mile of the race, but gave his teammates quite literally everything he had inside of him to cross the line 13th in a time of 15:52.61. Junior Owen Ross came in right behind Stevens - 14th overall - with a time of 15:53.06, which sealed the victory for The Minutemen. Sophomore Andrew Zhang (16:14.33) was 22nd overall. Senior Will Parker (17:01.64) was 43rd as LHS's final finisher on the day.

Highlights from the Bill O'Connor Varsity Girls Race
The Lex girls were the heavy favorites coming into action on Monday, and they showed why. After a second place finish last year, star sophomore Janie Conrad left no doubt. She blasted away from the field early with a 5:20 opening mile that gave her a 10-second lead on her teammates. While her pace slowed over the final two-plus miles, Conrad still won going away. Her time of 17:18.39 obliterated the course record set just last year by Arlington's Evie Lauzon. A fast start seemed to be contagious on Monday, as each of LHS's top-seven tried to simply run away from the field early. Junior Callie Glenn and sophomore Ella Tyson opened their first miles in 5:30 and 5:31 respectively. Glenn faded over the final stretch, but still managed a fifth place finish in a time of 18:16.26. Tyson was with her every step of the way, and hung on to place sixth overall in 18:16.54. After a 5:33 opening mile, junior Erin Ehmann came across the finish line eighth in a time of 18:20.96. Fellow classmate Alycia Charest was not far behind. The junior captain was a bit more controlled in her opening mile, and was able to close to within two seconds of Ehmann at the finish with a time of 18:22.96. In the end, Charest's ninth place finish was all her team needed, as she sealed the title for the Lex girls. Fellow captains Thayer DiCerbo (19:03.40) and Meghan Caldera (19:18.63) were the final two finishers for LHS on Monday. The senior duo came through in 12th and 14th place respectively.
