Meet Information
MIAA Cross Country Meet of Champions
November 15, 2025
Willard Park - Fort Devens, MA

RESULTS

DEVENS, MA - 364 days ago Lexington High School's girls finished four points shy of the ultimate prize for Bay State cross country athletes, as they finished runner-up to Westford Academy. On that day, the Lex girls were new contenders on the scene. Prior to then, they only had one top-five finish at the Division 1 state championships in nearly a decade, and while they had talented teams on the track during that time period, they had not been able to win the big one there either. However, with an influx of talent over the past two years, and the perfect combination of steady, yet vibrant leadership from their upperclassmen, the Lex girls built themselves into a powerhouse in just 12 short months. They delivered dominant performances to win the Indoor and Outdoor Division 1 meets last year, and on Saturday, that powerhouse marched itself into Fort Devens, where it left zero doubt as to which team is the class of the Bay State. With each of their first five runners placing in the top-25, the Lex girls took home their first MIAA Division 1 State Cross Country Championship since 2016 with 63 points. Billerica was their closest competitor with 89 points. In the boys' meet, The Minutemen fought hard but had to settle for fourth place overall with 164 points. A special tip of the cap goes to the team from Brookline who successfully completed the "four-peat" as they won their fourth consecutive D1 crown with 67 points. The Warriors win was even more impressive, as they had to overcome the sudden passing of a recently graduated member of their team just this past week. Truly an incredible effort by an all-time program, and our hearts go out to the Brookline XC/Track community.

Back to Saturday, where the Lex girls knew they had a target on their back, as the consensus #1 team in Massachusetts for much of the year. And, after seeing the performance Billerica delivered at the Division 1C Championship last week, anticipation was high for what would likely be an epic clash between the two teams. When the gun fired, the field charged down the opening stretch, and the Lex girls quickly packed up together. That is all except for their top finisher, Janie Conrad. The star sophomore was admittedly disappointed with her finish at last week's Division 1A meet. While she placed third overall behind Westford Academy All-American Abigail Hennessy, and the reigning champion from Needham, Greta Hammer, Conrad did not feel she truly put herself to the test at Wrentham. It was a total 180 at Devens, however, as Conrad was out in third position early, and reeled in Hammer with every stride over the final 800 meters. In the end, while the podium result ended up being the same at Devens as it was at Wrentham, LHS's sophomore finished around 20 seconds closer to the two titans this time around with a time of 18:06.32. Conrad's performance was a necessary tone setter for her team as Billerica's Kylie Donahue and Maya Niles placed fifth and ninth. However, Ella Tyson continued her stellar sophomore campaign as she came across the line 10th in a time of 18:43.99. While things got a little shaky for the Lex girls when Billerica's Caitlyn Donahue came blazing across the finish line in 14th position, the hallmark of the 2025 team has been its depth. That depth showed up time and time again this season, and it did again at Fort Devens. Juniors Erin Ehmann, Alycia Charest, and Callie Glenn all competed in their third consecutive Division 1 Championship on Saturday. That experience fueled them to deliver the performances necessary to take home the title this time around. Ehmann and Charest were never separated by more than a few strides throughout the race. They came through the mile in 5:59, and worked their way up through the field over the middle portion of the race. The pair passed the two-mile mark in 12:13, and in the end Ehmann (18:57.29) finished just ahead of Charest (18:57.86) at the line. With their 17th and 18th place finishes, the Lex girls put Billerica's chances of an upset on the ropes. And, while her teammates laid the groundwork, it was Glenn who delivered the knockout blow. She made an aggressive move in the latter half of the race, and held herself together over the final stretch to finish 22nd overall with a time of 19:07.04. And that was that. LHS had all five runners across the line before any other team managed to put in four. From there it was all gravy for the girls. Senior captain Thayer DiCerbo came across the line in 36th place overall in a time of 19:35.37, which bested Billerica's #5 and cemented her place as perhaps the best #6 runner in team history. Meanwhile fellow classmate and captain Meghan Caldera (20:16.31) placed 70th overall as the Lex girls' final finisher. In the end, Saturday's Division 1 Championship was what it has been all season for Lexington, a total team effort.

The Minutemen were riding high after last week's runner-up finish at the Division 1A Championship. However, to be able to compete for the title at Devens, they knew they would have to take a chance and trust their legs could deliver for them. No one embodied that more than junior Patrick Noonan on Saturday. After a frustrating sophomore year that saw him struggle to find the success of his freshman campaign, Noonan has been racing as well as he ever has over the last month, and on Saturday he left it all on the field. The race was tightly bunched over the opening mile, and not particularly fast as the pack came through in 4:58. Soon after the mile-mark, Noonan sensed the pace slowing at the front, and decided to make his move. He surged to the front and committed himself to stringing out the field, which he did quite successfully. As Noonan charged up the hill course's signature hill, he passed the two-mile at 9:46. While his 4:48 second mile did damage to the field, he himself paid the price over the final mile-plus. Noonan hung tough, but eventually fell back to eighth place overall - 16:00.78 - after a valiant effort to go for the gold. Back in the pack, junior captain Trevor Stevens took a similar path to his finish. Asked by his coaches to hold back on the early pace, he led his teammates through the mile in 5:04, and maintained that pace through the next mile. In the end, he too ran out of gas over the final stretch. Fellow teammates, Alden Hall, Liam Singh, and Sam Finch caught back up to him in the final quarter mile of the race, as they charged to the finish line. It was junior Alden Hall who came across first in a time of 16:36.80 to finish 42nd. Stevens' fellow captain, Singh, ran 16:38.17 in what was the final race of his LHS XC career. In the end, his time was enough for 46th place. Finch, another senior in his final XC race, delivered a fine performance of his own to cap of the season. He finished 48th overall in a time of 16:39.10. Stevens (16:45.87) ended up 56th as The Minutemen's fifth man on the day. Junior Owen Ross was 73rd in 16:54.81, and sophomore Andrew Zhang (17:29.39) was 128th to round out the team's scoring.

While the excitement of the girls' state title will stay with them into the future, the page turns immediately to focus on the Nike Cross Northeast Regionals. On Saturday, November 22nd the Lex girls and Patrick Noonan will travel to Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, New York to compete for a chance to punch their tickets to Portland, Oregon.
