LHS BOYS FALL TO A TOUGH READING TEAM; GIRLS BUST OUT GOLDEN BROOM, WIN 15-50
Meet Information
Reading Dual Meet
October 7, 2025
Reading Town Forest - Reading, MA
RESULTS
READING, MA - Lexington vs. Reading has long been one of the classic rivalries in the Middlesex League. While The Minutemen have been able to outperform the Rockets at the Middlesex League Championship for over a decade, Reading's boys have the clear edge in dual meets in recent years. The Rockets have won 4 of the last 5 duals against LHS going back to 2020. With all the history swirling around the matchup, The Minutemen knew they would need to be at their best on Tuesday if they were going to leave Reading with a victory. Unfortunately, they ran into a buzzsaw. The Rockets withstood the early barrage put on by LHS's boys, and wrestled control of the race away from The Minutemen in the latter stages of the race. In the end, Reading's boys won convincingly by a score of 18-37. While the rivalry has been tremendous on the boys' side, the Lex girls have dominated the matchup for over a decade. That was the case again on Tuesday as they won with a perfect score of 15-50.
Sophomore Rhys Behling had the race out in a blistering pace as he brought the lead pack through the mile in 4:56. While the pace slowed in the second mile, Behling, along with Reading's Finn Johnson-Houlihan and Tim Connolly broke away from the pack. As they emerged from the woods for the final time, the Reading pair had gapped Behling and surged around the field to the finish line with an impressive one-two finish at 15:58 and 16:02 respectively. For his efforts, Behling came across the line in third place with a time of 16:15, but when Reading potted three more runners - including a tremendous kick to the finish by Cameron Gigler - before LHS's next finisher, the meet was over. Juniors Holden Cassity (16:31) and Alden Hall (16:32) were next for The Minutemen in seventh and eighth place respectively. Next was fellow classmate Owen Ross (16:39), sophomore Andrew Zhang (16:40), senior captain Liam Singh (16:41), and senior Will Parker (16:42). They were followed by senior Owen Kuder (16:49), sophomore Ethan Wang (16:50), and junior Finn O'Donnell (16:51) to round out the top 10.
For the second time this season, the Lex girls were led by junior Erin Ehmann. While many of her top teammates rested this meet, Ehmann cruised her way to victory in a negative split 19:46. Ehmann aside, the story of this meet mirrored what happened against Woburn last week. Lexington saw a massive breakout performance by a new face. Isabella Gorospe struggled through her freshman year with injuries and inconsistency. However, she dedicated herself over the summer to achieve the kind of success that she knew she was capable of. Gorospe's early season results definitely showed she had taken a step in the right direction, but Tuesday was a massive leap forward for the 10th grader. She flew through the opening two miles in 13 minutes flat, which had her in second place, just strides ahead of fellow classmate Daphne Warren. However, over the final lap of the forest Gorospe dug deep and pushed herself to the line in a time of 20:36 to secure the runner-up finish. Warren crossed the line third overall, with a solid race in her own right, in a time of 20:46. Fellow classmate Addie Haiar (21:04) was next for the Lex girls. Junior Josie Bettencourt (21:33) was just able to hold off the hard charge made by freshman Beatrix Koch-Kochrane (21:34) to secure the fifth spot for her team. It was senior Prachi Aggarwal (22:10) that finished seventh overall. While sophomore Talia Rech (22:27), freshman Victoria Davidson (22:55), and junior Allie Galloway (22:57) finished eighth, 11th, and 12th respectively.

LHS will compete in the Varsity Boys Large race beginning at 2:45pm.
