LEX GIRLS SET THE BAR HIGH AGAINST WINCHESTER; BOYS CRUISE TO VICTORY

Winchester Dual Meet
October 14, 2025
Horn Pond - Woburn, MA

RESULTS

WOBURN, MA - After Lexington's boys faced their toughest test in the Middlesex League last week against Reading, this week, it was supposed to be the Lex girls' chance to see how they stacked up against their top League competitors. Despite the build-up, the showdown between the Lex girls and Winchester never really came to fruition. The Red and Black competed at the Devens Pre-Championship Classic over the weekend, and decided to rest many of their top girls on Tuesday. The Minutemen have made a habit of that very strategy in recent years when big meets are packed tightly into their schedule, so while they some of the luster was off the much anticipated match-up, LHS's girls made sure to leave their mark on Winchester's brand new 5k home course. Lexington took the first 4 spots, and 7 of the top-10, en route to a 16-44 victory. Meanwhile, The Minutemen took care of business on the boys' side with a 20-43 win of their own.

When the gun fired in the girls' race, Janie Conrad immediately went off to the races. A 5:36 opening mile gapped the field by nearly 20 seconds. LHS's star sophomore backed up her first mile with a 5:45 second mile, and eventually ran away with the victory in a time of 17:55. Not to be overlooked, junior Callie Glenn and sophomore Ella Tyson were stride-for-stride for nearly the entire race. They breezed through the mile in 5:55. As the race progressed they were right together until the pair approached the steep downhill to the finish. There, Glenn pulled away to finish second in a time of 18:28. Tyson came across in 18:31. Next over the line was junior captain Alycia Charest, who finished fourth overall in another tremendous time of 18:47. To put it into perspective, each time turned in by the Lex girls' top-four bested the previous course record set earlier this season. After Winchester's Caroline Lanz crossed the finish line next, LHS freshman Emma Kosnik slammed the door shut on a great performance by the top-five. For her efforts, Kosnik turned in a time of 19:13 to place sixth overall. While the top-five were great, the race delivered by captain Meghan Caldera was quite noteworthy as well. The LHS senior found the form that made her such an invaluable piece of last year's team, as she finished eighth overall with a time of 19:38. Sophomores Addie Haiar and Isabella Gorospe continued to build on their breakout seasons. Haiar (20:10) finished 10th, while Gorospe (20:25) was 11th. Fellow classmate Daphne Warren delivered a solid race to finish 12th overall in a time of 20:33. Freshman Beatrix Koch-Kochrane (21:11) continued to ride the moment she has built over the last couple weeks. Her performance on Tuesday landed her 16th overall.

The Minutemen went to work early in the boys' varsity race as their top-six were only separated by two seconds as they came through the mile mark. Junior Eric House and fellow classmate Holden Cassity led LHS's top pack through in 5:15, and from there things began to stretch out. House and Cassity built a gap on the field with a 5:01 second mile. However, senior Will Parker and Winchester junior Noah Damaske were slowly picking up time as the race headed back along Horn Pond to the finish. With less than a quarter mile to go, Parker and Damaske had taken the lead and were locked in a battle to the finish. Then, just as Damaske appeared to pull away, House found another gear to make one final charge to the line. Despite a strong effort, Damaske was too far gone, and took the tape in 16:12. House finished just behind him in 16:13. Parker managed third in 16:14. Cassity came through next in 16:18. It was senior Sam Finch who finished fifth overall in a time of 16:25. He was just ahead of junior Finn O'Donnell (16:26), who finished off the scoring for The Minutemen on Tuesday by placing sixth. Sophomore Ethan Wang (16:38) came across in seventh place overall. He was followed by fellow classmate Rohan Banerji (16:39) and senior Owen Kuder (16:40). Meanwhile, sophomore Matteo Sanchez de Rojas (16:57) and freshman Kiran Green (17:03) rounded out the top-10 by finishing 12th and 13th respectively.

Up Next
The Lex girls will travel to historic Franklin Park in Boston this Saturday, October 18th for the 64th Annual Catholic Memorial Invitational. Construction on White Stadium will alter the layout of the traditional 5k course. However, despite the modifications, LHS will still run in the footsteps of 1992 World Cross Country Champion and Olympic Bronze Medalist, Lynn Jennings, and 2008 Olympic Silver Medalist and 2017 New York City Marathon Champion, Shalane Flanagan. Both of whom grew up in Massachusetts and set the Boston crowds on fire with historic races at Franklin Park. Action will begin for the Lex girls at 11:05am, and live results can be found HERE.
