BOSTON, MA - After a taking taking down archrival Woburn in Lexington on Tuesday afternoon, The Minutemen were back in action against a talent field highlighted by the Tanners on Saturday. Racing at the annual Catholic Memorial Invitational on the storied Franklin Park 5k course, The Minutemen were just as impressive as they were on Tuesday taking the team title with 48 points. Woburn finished second with 107 points.
Star junior Danna Ofek (19:39) lead the way for The Minutemen finishing runner up - the Baystate's top finisher - to Arianna Braccio from Nashua North, NH who won the race in 19:32. Fellow junior Pauline Steines continued her strong season by finishing seventh in a time of 20:18. Senior captain Kesinia Sortor rounded out the top ten by placing tenth in a time of 20:25. She was followed by sophmore Anna Nelson who finished 11th in 20:35. The Minutemen's all important fifth runner was sophomore Lina Jafaar who finished 18th in a time of 20:58.
In addition to the stellar performance by the Lexington's top five, sophomore Zoe Gu finished 26th overall in a time of 21:21. One of only eight freshmen in the varsity race, Clara Fu was the top freshmen finisher (28th overall) in a time of 21:25.
