The Annual LexGiving 5k Run/Walk
Since 2008 the friends, families, and alumni of the Lexington High School Cross Country/Track & Field program have come together the morning after Thanksgiving to compete, relive the glory days, and burn off some Turkey Day calories in an "Alumni Race." Beginning in 2023, in the interest of sharing the sport we love with the larger community, the Cross Country team has partnered with the LHS Wrestling team to host the race. Our teams are excited to welcome the running community to join us for The Annual LexGiving 5k Run/Walk! All proceeds benefit the Lexington High School Cross Country and Wrestling teams. Course Details:
The race is held on the same nearly all-road course that has been home to the Cross Country team since 1970. Originally 2.9 miles, in 2014 the course was extended to the full 5k course that runners will traverse on race day.
The race begins and ends at the same location just behind the Little League Baseball diamond at Lincoln Field in Lexington. It heads out to Worthen Road, and winds its way through the neighborhood surrounding Lexington High School. The course features some challenging hills in the middle portion of the race that help to create the best home course advantage in the Middlesex League. See the full course map here.
For Spectators:
The course offers a very spectator friendly layout. Spectators can view participants at the start, then walk no more than 400 meters to the one-mile mark. Participants loop back to that exact location just after the two-mile mark. Spectators can then walk back to Lincoln Field to catch participants as they finish.
