RESULTS
BOSTON, MA - While The Minutemen officially sealed the 2020 Boys and Girls Middlesex League Titles ten days ago by beating Winchester. However, the true test of who was the top team in the League came Monday night at the Middlesex League Championships. After both teams enjoyed an undefeated regular season they left no doubt at Reggie Lewis as to who the class of the League was. The boys put up 135 points (a meet record) to runner-up Wakefield's 54, and the girls set a meet record of their own, winning with 125 points over 2nd place Woburn's 72.33.
Junior Aleia Gisolfi-McCready put on a double gold performance that highlighted the meet for the girls. The star sprinter began her meet with a personal best and MA #7 time of 41.03 seconds to win the 300m. Gisolfi-McCready then came back to anchor the girls 4x200m Relay to victory with a season best and MA #4 time of 1:46.90. Not to be outdone by his female counterpart the boys the performer of the meet has to go to senior Josh Backert. He was the only boy in the field house who brought home the League Crown in two individual events. Backert began his day by cruising to victory in the 600m with a time of 1:24.12, before coming back shortly thereafter to snatch the victory in the 300m with a time of 36.66 seconds.

After their record breaking performance at the MSTCA Northeast Invitational, The Minutemen's 4x800m Relay was selected to compete against a nationally ranked field at the 113th NYRR Millrose Games. The meet - at The Armory in New York - is set to begin at 11:35am with LHS's boys racing at 1:44pm.

Individual Champions
- Freshman Ava Criniti used a thrilling finishing kick to win the Mile in 5:21.92.
- The girls 4x400m Relay of sophomore Elana Sabin, juniors Aylin Bruce and Catherine Movsessian, and senior captain Lily Sheth won in a time of 4:09.66.
- Senior Chrisondra Awomah took the title in the Shot Put with a season best throw of 35'0".
- Senior captain Andrew McGovern cruised to victory in the 1000m with a time of 2:36.29.
- In the 2 Mile, senior Micah Benson (9:31.54) asserted himself as the Middlesex League's premier distance runner with an 11-second victory.
- The 4x400m Relay of junior Stephen Joseph, sophomore Evan Eberle, senior Jack Stevens as well as McGovern won in a time of 3:31.48.
Point Scorers for the Girls
- Senior captain Keena Gao ran a huge PR of 7.60 in the 55m Dash to place 3rd.
- In the 300m, sophomore Mari McBride (43.97) and junior Eileen Cannon (44.16) placed 5th and 7th respectively.
- Sheth finished runner-up in the 600m with a time of 1:41.29; Bruce placed 4th with a season best time of 1:43.28.
- Criniti doubled back in the 1000m to place 4th in 3:12.16
- After placing 4th in the Mile with a time of 5:26.32, senior captain Pauline Steines pulled off a strong double of her own; placing 6th (3:13.60) in the 1000m.
- Sophomore Clara Fu continued her breakout season by placing 4th in the 2 Mile with a time of 11:56.57; senior captain Danna Ofek was 6th in 12:11.22.
- McBride (5'0") and sophomore Raegan Lacombe (4'10") finished 4th and 5th respectively in the High Jump; Lacombe's mark was a PR and qualified her for the Division 1 Championships in her first season competing the event.
- Gao flew to a new PR in the Long Jump (17'7"), placing 2nd; senior captain Rachel Caldwell-Glixon was 4th in 16'10"; sophomore Anna Yang was 5th in 16'0.50".
- In the Shot Put, Raquel Batista-Vieira launched a new PR of 31'0.75" to place 6th in the event.

Point Scorers for the Boys
- Senior captain Salvador Jaramillo placed 4th in the 55m Dash with a PR of 6.85 seconds; junior Darren Tswei was 7th in 6.96.
- In the 300m it was senior Colin Breen (36.86) taking the silver medal; junior Alex Murphy was 4th in 37.76.
- Joseph took bronze in the 600m with a time of 1:25.20; Stevens picked up a point by placing 8th with a PR of 1:26.78.
- Finishing runner-up to McGovern in the 1000m, Eberle ran 2:40.70; fellow classmate Traver Smith III was 5th in 2:43.76.
- Junior Max DiCerbo battled his way to a 4th place finish in the Mile (4:35.72); sophomore Daniel Ramsey ran a huge PR of 4:38.18 to place 7th.
- In the 2 Mile senior Adam Bernstein took bronze with a time of 9:57.86; fellow senior Matt "Big Mac" McAlarney returned from injury to place 6th with a time of 10:03.78.
- Senior Ian Richter ran a 8.36 in the 55m High Hurdles to place 5th; senior captain Shymon Samsel saved his best race of the season for the finals of the League Championships and with a time of 8.42 placed 6th overall.
- Tswei, Jaramillo, Breen, and freshman Branndon Uda-Thach placed 3rd in the 4x200m Relay with a time of 1:35.56.
- The only two freshmen in the Long Jump field both PRed by over a half foot to score points for LHS; Michael Gerfen leaped 19'2.50" to place 6th, while Gerry Gong's best jump took him 18'6" and landed him in 8th place.
- LHS's "Bomb Squad" was led by senior Michael Gupta's silver medal performance (47'8"); senior Yianni Zavaliagkos (42'10") placed 4th.
