RESULTS
LEXINGTON, MA - Monday, The Minutemen went up against the Spy Ponders of Arlington in their second virtual dual meet of the season. While Arlington had the luxury of a warm clear day on which to compete this past Saturday, The Minutemen were met at the Center Track by a driving wind so strong that it had flipped over the high jump mats. Despite the conditions, Lexington's boys and girls teams left little to doubt in this contest. The boys swept four events en route to victory by a score of 79-21, while the girls nearly matched that effort by winning 78.5-21.5 and sweeping five events in the process.
On the girls side junior Mari McBride was at her absolute best for The Minutemen. She began her day by setting a personal best, leaping over the High Jump bar at 5'2". After winning the High Jump, she took her first career attempts on the Long Jump runway. When the dust settled from competition she had soared to a distance of 16'11.50". Both of McBride's marks were have qualified her for the Division 1 Championships last season. In addition to her performances in the field, McBride also picked up three points for LHS by placing second in the 300m (45.1 seconds). Along with McBride's performance in the High Jump, sophomore Maddie Parks set a new season best by clearing 4'10". That mark is a would be Divisional qualifying one. And junior Anna Yang had a would be Divisional qualifying performance of her own in the Long Jump. Yang set a new PR with a leap of 16'6.50". Both Parks and Yang placed second in their respective events to McBride.
In the boys meet junior captain Evan Eberle had the top performance on the day. After staying with the pack through the first three-quarters of the 1000m, Eberle made a move down the backstretch with 300m to go before bursting away from the field over the final 200. He crossed the line in a season best and would be League Championship qualifying time of 2:39.h. Along with Eberle, sophomore Jerry Gong turned in a would be League qualifying mark of his own. The sophomore leaped to a personal best distance of 19'2", which ended up placing second overall.

For the first time since the COVID pandemic hit, The Minutemen will travel out of Lexington for a dual meet. The meet - Monday, April 5th at 4:00pm - will be held at Woburn High School against the archrival Tanners. Spectators are reminded that they must have a school issued Middlesex League lanyard to be able to attend the meet.

- Junior Elena Sabin (1:46.1) took home the first place in the 600m; senior Aleia Gisolfi-McCready (1:46.9) and freshman Adia Singh (1:49.4) finished off the sweep.
- Freshman Gabby Fainelli earned her first high school win by taking the 1000m in a personal best 3:20.9; sophomore Uma Sanker (3:23.5) and junior Claire Pak (3:24.9) picked up second and third respectively.
- The golden broom was out in the 300m as senior captain Eileen Cannon (44.6), McBride (45.1), and senior captain Aylin Bruce (45.4) went 1-2-3.
- Star sophomore Ava Criniti led the sweep of the 2 Mile with a PR of 11:37.4; sophomore Ashley Taylor (13:25.7) and Zoe Gu (13:43.1) finished off the job.
- In the 55m Dash, Parks ran a personal best 7.7 seconds to win; senior Sujin Lee was second in 7.9 seconds.
Other Highlights for the Boys
- The golden broom came out first in the 600m as junior Artha Tavshikar used a late charge to win in 1:32.5; junior Hiroki Heginbotham (1:32.7), and sophomore Aleios Kontothanassis (1:34.5) were second and third respectively.
- Senior Stephen Joseph (2:42.9) and Nayan Das (2:48.4) finished off the sweep of the 1000m as both hit League qualifying marks.
- In the 300m, senior captain Ryan Atkins took the tape in 40.3 seconds; sophomores Miguel Jaramillo (41.4) and Aviv Spitz (41.4) completed a sweep of the event by finishing second and third respectively.
- LHS's Bomb Squad repeated their sweep from last week, but this time senior captain Jarret Dlugy took the victory with a throw of 40'10"; sophomores Jack Ngo (38'8") and Matthew Jacob (35'1") went two-three.
- Another big event for LHS was the 55m High Hurdles; sophomores Michael Gerfen (8.5) and Jayden Bai (9.1) both turned in PRs finishing first and third.
