Meet Information
Winchester Dual Meet
April 9, 2021
Lexington High School - Lexington, MA
RESULTS
LEXINGTON, MA - Friday afternoon ahead of a dual meet with Winchester, Lexington High School honored the Indoor Track & Field team's senior class with a traditional senior day ceremony. Parents and teammates celebrated the contributions that the Class of 2021 have made to the program over the last four years with pictures, posters, and flowers. It seemed that the pre-meet ceremonies were just what The Minutemen needed to get fired up for what was - for the girls - their toughest test of the season... on paper. Winchester's girls came in boasting a number of supremely talented athletes who were gunning to spoil the festivities at LHS. Despite their best efforts, Winchester simply did not have the firepower to compete with The Minutemen. The girls prevailed by a score of 62-38. On the boys side it was just another day at the office as LHS breezed to a 77-23 victory. However, the meet was highlighted by Winchester junior Easton Tan who put on an absolute clinic in the 55m High Hurdles. Tan ran an FAT 7.34 seconds for the event, which would have been the fastest time run in Massachusetts last winter and US #10.
While it was a day for the seniors to be honored, it was sophomore Ava Criniti who stole the show early for LHS. Facing her toughest in-person test of the season, Criniti (5:19.5) outlasted Winchester's Camryn Menninger (5:21.6) to win the Mile. The sophomore then came back in the 1000m to take the tape in a winning time of 3:14.1. While Criniti's double was impressive, senior Aleia Gisolfi-McCready turned in perhaps the best day of her decorated career at LHS. She began by blowing away the field in the 300m. Winning by nearly three seconds, Gisolfi-McCready ran 40.9 seconds. She then came back to anchor the 4x200m Relay - along with sophomore Maddie Parks, junior Mari McBride, and fellow classmate and captain Eileen Cannon - in a blistering 25.6 unofficial split. With that time the superstar senior brought The Minutemen across the line in 1:46.7 seconds, which would have ranked 10th in the state last year. To go along with her exploits on the track, Gisolfi-McCready also turned in a personal best throw of 25'3 in the Shot Put.
In the boys meet the seniors turned in quite the show both on the track and in the field. Senior captains Reed Solomon and Max DiCerbo had themselves a battle in the 1000m that went right down to the wire. In the end it was a hard charging Solomon that took the race in a personal best time of 2:41.3, while DiCerbo finished just behind in 2:41.5. Despite being outkicked in the 1k, DiCerbo debuted in the High Jump for The Minutemen by clearing 5'4" and tying teammate Jayden Bai for first place in the event. Another big performance was turned in by senior captain Alex Murphy. The sprinter finally broke through with a PR in the 300m by running 37.3 seconds to take the victory. Along with his 300, Murphy teamed up with fellow classmate Ryan Atkins, sophomore Michael Gerfen, and junior Joshua Lee to run the fastest time in the League this season in the 4x200m Relay (1:35.3).
