Meet Information
Woburn Dual Meet

Woburn High School - Woburn, MA
RESULTS
WOBURN, MA - On a cloudy, windswept, early April afternoon the premier rivalry in the Middlesex League was renewed as The Minutemen marched over to Woburn to face the Tanners. For both the boys and girls teams this meet is always highlighted at the beginning of the season as the meet to win each year. Last Indoor Season, The Minutemen took down Woburn four times as both the boys and girls won the head-to-head matchups before LHS's teams dominated the League Championships - both setting League Meet scoring records. With all the build up of being away from face-to-face competition for over a year, The Minutemen came ready and turned in their best performances to date. The boys won 63-37, while the girls won a hard fought victory by a score of 57-43.
On the girls side things got off to an inauspicious start as Woburn went 1-2 and 1-3 in the 55m High Hurdles and Dash respectively. Combined with LHS giving up the top two spots in the Shot Put, things did not look good for The Minutemen going into the Mile. However, at that point LHS's superstar sophomore Ava Criniti began mounting the comeback. Criniti sat behind Woburn senior Kacy Cole for 1400 meters before unleashing her patented finishing kick. The sophomore harrier breezed across the line in 5:34.7 to take the win. Along with Criniti's performance over the final 200m of the race, freshman Samara McVey came to the homestretch neck-and-neck with Woburn's Julianna Scholtes. Battling the entire way, McVey outlasted Scholtes to pick up an important third place point in a personal best 5:49.7. After the Mile it was freshman Adia Singh's chance to step up. Singh turned in a four second PR (1:44.6) in the 600m to pick up three much needed points by placing second. Criniti then came back in the 1000m to pick up another five points by winning in 3:10.8, and from there LHS was off and running to victory.
Contrary to the girls, things got off to a hot start for the boys as sophomore Michael Gerfen ran a personal best 8.4 seconds in the Hurdles to pick up a second place, before seniors Darren Tswei (6.7) and Ryan Atkins (7.0) went 1-3 in the Dash. After the events on the straightaway, it was LHS freshman Nayan Das who asserted himself in the Mile. Along with junior Ollie DiCerbo (4:48.9), the young harrier battled with Woburn senior Andrew Vecchia to cap off a 1-2 finish for The Minutemen with a winning time of 4:48.0. Adding a boost to The Minutemen was LHS's always reliable "Bomb Squad." Led by senior captain Jarret Dlugy who turned in a nearly three foot PR (43'3"), the throwers broke out the golden broom for the third consecutive meet as sophomores Matt Jacob (41'2") and Jack Ngo (40'5") finished the sweep. Along with the Bomb Squad, Mid-D flexed its muscles in the 600m as senior Stephen Joseph (1:26.5), junior Artha Tavshikar (1:30.8), and junior Hiroki Heginbotham (1:33.6) swept the event.
