BAI AND CRINITI LEAD THE MINUTEMEN OVER ARLINGTON
Meet Information
Arlington Dual Meet
December 22, 2021
Reggie Lewis Center - Boston, MA
RESULTS
BOSTON, MA - This past Wednesday The Minutemen returned to Reggie Lewis for the first time since the 2020 New England Championships, to face off against Arlington. The Spy Ponders were resting nearly their entire distance squad, which led them to League and Divisional Championships during the Cross Country season, so The Minutemen were able to cruise to a pair of victories. The boys won by a score of 63-37, while the girls were not to be outdone, winning 68-32.
In the girls meet, it was junior Ava Criniti who led the way for LHS. The junior began her day with a nearly 20-second victory in the Mile. Her time of 5:15.81 was a season best, and the fastest time run in Massachusetts in the young season. Criniti followed up her Mile performance with an equally impressive run in the 1000m. She won the event with another MA #1 time of 3:08.39. Another Lex girl taking home two W's on Wednesday was senior captain Anna Yang. She began her day in the 55m High Hurdles were she ran a PR of 9.96 to grab the victory. Later in the meet in her signature event - the Long Jump - Yang flew to a distance of 16'4" to take the event with a Division 1 Championships qualifying mark.
On the boys side, there were a number of strong performances but none reached the heights of Jayden Bai. The junior High Jumper came into the meet with a PR of 5'8" - having just barely missed at 5'10" last week - and was determined to break that mark on Wednesday night. On his second attempt at the 5'10", Bai soared over the bar cleanly to achieve the Divisional qualifying mark which has eluded over the past year. That mark was enough to take first against Arlington, and was tied for the second highest jump of the season in the Middlesex League. Along with Bai's great day in the field, LHS's "Bomb Squad" showed that when it comes to depth of talent, they are unmatched in the League. Junior Allen Jiang threw a nearly 10-foot PR of 46'8" to get things started for The Minutemen. He was followed by fellow classmates Jack Ngo (43'11.25"), Matt Jacob (43'7"), and Kaden Cassidy (43'6.50") who collectively busted out the golden broom +one, by taking the top four spots in the event, with what ended up being the second, third, fourth, and fifth farthest throws in the League this year.
