NORTHEAST INVITE DAY 2: CRINITI AND MCBRIDE SHINE FOR THE MINUTEMEN
Meet Information
MSTCA Northeast Invitational, Day 2
January 15, 2022
Reggie Lewis Center - Boston, MA
RESULTS
BOSTON, MA - On Saturday morning, The Minutemen were back at Reggie Lewis for Day 2 of the Northeast Invitational. After Friday night proved to be historic for LHS, the Lex Boys and Girls picked up right where their teammates left off.
In the 1000m it was superstar distance runner Ava Criniti who lined up in the seeded section. Undefeated in the event on the young season, Criniti got her first real taste of competition outside of the Middlesex League. She proved not only that she is up to the challenge, but also that she truly is the class of the distance running circuit in Massachusetts. After going through the 800m in a relatively casual 2:28, the junior harrier unleashed her patented kick over the final 200m. Utilizing a 33-second final lap, Criniti broke the tape in a new PR - by seven seconds - of 3:01.76. That time improved on her New England best mark this season. Along with Criniti's day, senior captain Mari McBride continued her dominance in the High Jump. In perhaps the best all around performance of her career, McBride had a clean sheet through 5'0", 5'2", and 5'4". She had near miss in on her second attempt at a would-be-new PR of 5'6" but still ended up winning the title on jumps with her final mark of 5'4".
