Belmont Dual Meet

The Track at New Balance - Boston, MA
RESULTS
BOSTON, MA - After a few weeks away, The Minutemen were back at The Track at New Balance for the final dual meet of the season. The Lex Girls were dominant from the first gun, sweeping six events, and winning both relays on their way to an impressive 92-8 victory over Belmont. On the Boys side, a number of athletes were being rested ahead of Sunday's MSTCA Coaches Invitational. Despite being without some top athletes, The Minutemen took down the Marauders by a final score of 67-33.
The meet got off to a hot start for the Lex Girls as junior Amandine Mangon (9.45) and Katie Atkins (9.68) went one-two in the 55m Hurdles. Both of their times were big PRs and have them ranked in the top-10 in the Middlesex League. That was followed up by an impressive varsity debut for Aubrey Deardorf in the 55m Dash. The freshman ran a League qualifying time of 7.85 to lead two of her teammates under 8-seconds in the event. Fellow classmate Felice Haverly (7.95) and Noa Helmbrecht (7.96) broke out the golden broom to sweep the event. Senior captain Ava Criniti is finding her form at just the right time of the year. Criniti turned in a season best of 5:04.16 to win the Mile. That time is the fastest run so far this winter by a high school athlete in Massachusetts.
In the Boys meet, Joey "Candy Man" Ryan ran a very tactically sound race in the 1000m to achieve the MIAA Division 1 Championships standard. The junior harrier sat back off the lead for nearly 800m, but with just over a lap to go he burst into the lead, and finished with a 30-second final 200 to break the tape with a PR of 2:43.95. The Minutemen also had a number of first time League qualifiers on Thursday. In the 600m, senior Wesley Jarvis finally broke through in the event by running a PR of 1:31.41 to achieve the standard. Jarvis negative split each lap of the race on his way to placing third. In the Two Mile the freshman duo of Sam Finch and Will Parker worked together over 16 laps to turn in huge PRs. Finch crossed the line in 10:49.28, while Parker was not too far behind in a time of 10:53.40 as both punched their tickets to the League Championships on February 6th. Making his much awaited returned to the Shot Put sector, senior Kaden "the Sundance Kid" Cassidy represented the LHS Bomb Squad in style by winning the event with a throw of 48'7.50".
