JV ATHLETES GET THEIR CHANCE TO SHINE FOR LHS AT THE TRACK AT NEW BALANCE

RESULTS
BOSTON, MA - The Minutemen have now travelled to brand new world class facility in Brighton four times, but Monday marked the first opportunity for JV athletes to take center stage as the Middlesex League's JV Open took place. While the meet was not scored, LHS's JV crew showed extremely well throughout the day with the Boys' Team turning in the top performance in 6 of 11 events. Not to be outdone, the Lex Girls were tops in 8 of 11 events.
The Boys' meet was highlighted by senior Kaden "The Sundance Kid" Cassidy's performance in the 55m Dash. Cassidy, who this past weekend qualified for the National Championships in the 25lb. Weight Throw, loaded into the blocks for the first time and won the event going away with a Middlesex League Championship qualifying time of 6.97 seconds. Cassidy is now The Minutemen's eighth athlete under 7-seconds in the event. Along with Cassidy's big day, junior Gavin Bracken won the 600m in a time of 1:33.10. That time achieves the League standard for him for the first time this season. Another big performance was turned in by Christian Arrington. The LHS junior unleashed the Weight 43'0.25" to win the event by nearly seven feet.
For the Lex Girls, freshman Aubrey Deardorf made her debut for The Minutemen. The 9th grader breezed her way to victory in the 55m Dash with a time of 8.10 seconds, winning her event by nearly a second. Finishing right behind Deardorf was fellow classmate Bruguers Sagues, who crossed the line with a time of 8.15 seconds. Both athletes were back in the Long Jump finishing third and fourth respectively. Deardorf with a leap of 14'1.50", and Sagues flying 13'5.75". Along with the sprinters, fellow classmate Charvi Chinnam had herself a day. Chinnam was second overall in the Long Jump with a best jump of 14'3". However, her best performance came earlier in the meet as she won the 55m Hurdles with a huge PR of 10.44 seconds.

The Minutemen are back in action this Saturday, January 21st for the MSTCA Division 1 Relays. The annual meet is a test of depth as each event competing is in a relay format. The meet - at the Reggie Lewis Center - will begin at 3pm.

- Freshman Adien Raney placed second in the 55m Hurdles with a PR of 10.02.
- In the 1000m, sophomore Will Fletcher was first across the line for The Minutemen - second overall - with a PR of 3:01.69.
- It was junior Victor Yu who won the 300m with a quick time of 38.89 seconds.
- The Mile saw freshman Will Parker use a strong finishing lap to place second with a PR of 5:09.03.
- Senior Aidan Courduvelis (17'10.75") won the Long Jump.
- In the High Jump, junior Clifton Reid Jr (5'0") was The Minutemen's top finisher.
Other Highlights for the Girls:
- Senior Helene Bargheer (1:52.69) debuted in the 600m with a victory.
- The 1000m was won by freshman Nadia Abdinoor in a time of 3:34.78.
- Sophomore Mirei Saneyoshi grinded her way to a victory in the Mile with a PR of 6:11.58.
- In the Shot Put, freshman Nalini Datta won by nearly a foot with a throw of 25'3.50".
- The 4x200m Relay of Sagues, senior Betsy Zales, and sophomores Caitlin Lennox and Stella Cocozza won with a time of 1:58.49.
- Deardorf was the top finisher for the Lex Girls in the 300m, finishing third with a time of 48.23.
