HELMBRECHT'S AND JARAMILLO'S BIG DAYS HIGHLIGHT FINAL DAY OF NE INVITE FOR LHS
Meet Information
MSTCA Northeast Invitational, Day 3
January 15, 2023
Reggie Lewis Center - Boston, MA
RESULTS
BOSTON, MA - Sunday The Minutemen returned to the Reggie Lewis Center for the last of three days of competition at the Northeast Invitational. After a tremendous first two days with numerous League, Divisional, and even National qualifiers, LHS was hoping to finishing things off with a few more top performances to complete the weekend meet. They did just that, as the Lex Boys and Girls turned in 26 season or personal bests throughout the day.
The breakout performance of the day has to go to junior Noa Helmbrecht. In her first season of Track & Field, she quickly is becoming one of the best short sprinters LHS has fielded in recent memory. Coming into the meet with a PR of 8.06 in the 55m Dash - having only run the event once - she blew that mark away in the prelims on Sunday by running a time of 7.88 seconds, and finishing 21st overall. To put it in perspective, Helmbrecht's time makes her only the fourth LHS girl in the last five years to break the 8-second barrier. Along with Helmbrecht's big day, senior Miguel Jaramillo finally broke through in the 55m Dash as well. After three failed attempts at breaking the elusive 7-second barrier, Jaramillo blew past it on Sunday with a time of 6.92 seconds. That mark gives him an auto qualifier for the Middlesex League Championships for the first time in his career indoors. And with Jaramillo's performance, The Minutemen now have a ridiculous seven boys who have dipped under 7-seconds in the event.
Other Highlights from Sunday:
Up Next
