The Track at New Balance - Boston, MA
RESULTS
BOSTON, MA - After a tremendous fall season on the trails, The Minutemen were back at what has become their home-away-from-home, The Track at New Balance. Thanks to the tireless efforts of LHS Athletic Director and Middlesex League Commissioner for Indoor Track & Field Naomi Martin, LHS's junior varsity student-athletes had the privilege of making their season debuts at the state-of-the-art facility that will host the NCAA Division 1 Track & Field Championships, as well as the New Balance Indoor Nationals this winter.
On the boys' side, the meet got off to a blazing start, which came in the form of freshmen Cayden Chambers. The ninth grader wasted no time making himself known to the Middlesex League, as he dominated his heat with a time of 7.02 seconds in the 55m Dash. In addition to the victory, that time punched Chambers' ticket to the New Balance Indoor Nationals in March as he achieved the freshmen standard in the event. Along with Chambers' big debut, sophomore Cleavon Manor Jr proved to be a class above the rest in the High Jump. Manor Jr won the event by four inches after clearing the bar at a personal best 5'6".
Speed and power were on full display for the Lex Girls as well, all in the form of Alyssa McKee. The freshman began her day with a second place finish in the 55m Dash in a time of 8.02 seconds. McKee followed that up with a victory in the Long Jump by over half a foot, as on her third jump of the competition, she flew to a distance of 14'7.25". The Minutemen's distance squad got off to a solid start as well as freshman Maiti Striuli (6:06.33), sophomore Prachi Aggarwal (6:10.16), and junior Phoebe Jiang (6:10.79) busted out the golden broom in the Mile with a one-two-three finish.
