THE MINUTEMEN COMPETE AT FINAL JV MEET BEFORE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Meet Information
JV Meet #4
January 15, 2024
The Track at New Balance - Boston, MA
RESULTS
BOSTON, MA - The Minutemen were back at The Track for part one of the two-meets-in-one-day affair aptly called "Track Day." The junior varsity squad came in with one final chance to improve seeds as many head to the ML-12 JV League Championships next Thursday evening. It is clear that the LHS athletes who have put the work in all year long are seeing the benefits of their work, as many of them turned in personal bests on Monday morning.
One group of athletes who will not be competing at the JV League Championships includes the top fourth finishers in the Boys Mile. Freshman Alden Hall (4:53.04), sophomore Sam Finch (4:54.38), senior Owen Lawler (4:55.27), and sophomore Colin Ryan (4:57.66) all used strong finishes in the final lap of the race to turn in personal bests. And, each of their times was fast enough to punch their tickets to the Middlesex League Championships with their varsity teammates on February 4th. That now makes 13 LHS student-athletes who have qualified for the League Meet, which is simply unheard of at a Championships. The other event, which saw some big time performance was the Girls 55m Dash where junior Caitlin Lennox and freshman Layla Farnham continued their strong seasons. Lennox (8.03) turned in another PR in the Dash, inching ever closer to breaking the elusive eight-second barrier and achieving the varsity standard. For Farnham, her time of 8.06 seconds marked a near tenth-of-a-second personal best in the event.

The Minutemen will head to Roxbury this Saturday for the MSTCA Division 1 Relays. The meet is an annual test of depth, as well as a look at who will likely compete for the right to call themselves State Champions in February. Action will get underway at the Reggie Lewis Center at 9:00am this Saturday, January 20th.
