BIG DAY FOR LHS FRESHMEN AT MSTCA QUALIFIER MEET
Meet Information
MSTCA Qualifier Meet
February 10, 2024
Reggie Lewis Center - Boston, MA
RESULTS
BOSTON, MA - For some it was one more shot to improve their seed for the MIAA Division 1 Championships. For others, it was a final chance to make a run at a Divisional or Freshmen Nationals qualifier. Still others were simply there for an opportunity to race one more time before their winter season came to a close. That is how it goes at the annual MSTCA Qualifier Meet, which featured a baker's dozen of LHS's athletes competing at Reggie Lewis on Saturday.
For The Minutemen it was the Class of 2027 who were the highlight of the meet. It began in the Boys Mile where Owen Ross ran a personal best of 4:41.19 to place third overall. That time now ranks him US #25 among ninth graders in the event. Along with Ross, Alden Hall and Holden Cassity had big days of their own. Both ran PRs - 4:45.82 and 4:46.61 respectively - and achieved the Freshmen Nationals standard in their last chance to do so. Later in the meet, it was Cayden Chambers who blazed his way to a new PR of 37.88 in the 300m. That mark now ranks him MA #6 among freshmen in only his third time competing at the distance. Along with Chambers, fellow Freshman Nationals qualifier Shreyas Hanchinamani ran a personal best of 38.91. He now is ranked MA #15 in his class.
Other Highlights from the Meet:
