RESULTS
BOSTON, MA - The Minutemen officially began the Indoor Track & Field Season on Monday with a junior varsity meet. However, the first varsity competition of this winter came on Thursday as LHS went up against the Red and Black of Winchester. In what proved to be a litmus test for where The Minutemen were early in the season, LHS walked away from The Track at New Balance with a pair of victories. The Boys won by a score of 70-30, and the Lex Girls were even more convincing with a score of 79-20.
Without a doubt the LHS student-athlete who stood out the most was Jacob Pan. The senior began his day by leading a retooled hurdle crew to sweep the event with a Middlesex League best time of 8.09 seconds. That time qualified him for the MIAA Division 1 Championships in February. Pan followed that performance up with another equally impressive effort on the Long Jump runway. After fouling his first attempt, he flew to a distance of 20'4.25" to achieve the Divisional standard. That mark was the best of the night by nearly a half-foot. Along with Pan, fellow senior Khai Uda-Thach made a strong debut in the 300m. He ran 36.50 seconds, which, in addition to being the top time in League, was a PR, and a Divisional qualifier.
In the Girls Meet, sophomore Aubrey Deardorf showed that she is back and ready to compete with the best-of-the-best all season long. Deardorf turned in a near personal best time of 7.64 seconds, which was the second fastest time on the night in the League. Perhaps the best event on the night for The Minutemen was the 1000m. Sophomore Nadia Abdinoor went to the lead early in her heat and controlled the pace over five laps of the 200m oval to win in a Division 1 qualifying time, and personal best of 3:16.25. She was followed closely by first-time Indoor Track & Field participant Lucy Kontos. The LHS junior used a ferocious 35-second final lap to cross the line in 3:16.89, which also achieved the Divisionals standard.

After back-to-back meets at The Track at New Balance, The Minutemen will next head over to Boston University for their second JV Meet of the season. The track was newly resurfaced over the summer, and after it saw the NCAA record in the men's and women's 5000m go down a week ago, it has clearly staked its claim to continue to be considered the fastest indoor track in the world. The Middlesex League JV Meet #2 is set to begin on Wednesday, December 20th at 4pm.
