WESTFIELD, MA - After breaking her own school record en route to winning the Division 1 East Pentathlon last week, The Minutemen's Rachel Caldwell-Glixon headed out to Westfield State University to compete in the opening event of the All-State Championships. The field was comprised of the 14 best athletes in the state who would all compete in the 100m High Hurdles, High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put, and 800m with the winner claiming 10 points for their team and earning the right to call themselves Massachusetts' best athlete. Coming in as the top seed was the Division 4 East Champion Mackenzie Condon. The Martha's Vineyard senior won the Hurdles and built on that lead throughout the event, eventually taking the title by nearly 200 points with a total of 3201 points.
RCG had a solid performance of her own finishing sixth in the talented field with 2972 points. As she did last week, the LHS junior ran 16.07 in the Hurdles. She then tied for second in the High Jump, clearing 4'11.5" before leaping 16'6.5" in the Long Jump. RCG threw a season best 29'8.25" in the Shot Put, which was third best among the field. In the final event of the day, the 800m, RCG was able to pull out her lone personal best of the day by running 2:37.92. RCG's sixth place finish earned The Minutemen three points heading into Saturday's Championships.
