RESULTS: A-RACE
RESULTS: B-RACE
LEXINGTON, MA - This past Saturday The Minutemen faced off against Winchester High School hoping to take down the only team that beat them on their home course in recent memory. While this year's course has been slightly altered, the result against Winchester was only too similar as the Lex girls fell by a score of 24-33 for their first loss of the season.

I know it’s been a while since we last talked, and I know you were all running out of great literature to read without my weekly editions. So, I’m back and so are the girls of the Lexington High cross country team, even though they never really left. In fact, they have been training harder than ever and it really showed this Saturday's race at home against Winchester.
The air was filled with an unprecedented smog of pre race jitters as the Lexington girls laced up to race on Saturday. Word on the grapevine was that Winchester would be the fiercest competitors Lexington would see this whole season. Another rumor floating around being that Winchester had a girl that could run a sub 10 minute 5k, or wait was it 19? Either way, a little fear struck into the hearts of the Lexington girls that morning. They knew they would need to bring their A game to compete.
After a stellar pep-talk by none other than Head Coach Rebecca Trachsel, the girls were ready to push and make things a bit uncomfortable, something typically easy to accomplish on Lexington’s lovely home course. With all the miles of training under their belts, and two weeks of marvelous tapering the Lexington girls were ready to let ‘er rip and make things hurt a little.
Some girls were able to shift into a whole other gear on Saturday and put down a home course and/or season best. Senior captain Lauren Sterne not only put down a couple handfuls of pre race Tic-Tacs but also put down a very speedy 20:29 which was enough to take first for Lexington and third place overall. Someone let me know what is in those Tic-Tacs and if it’s been approved by the FDA? Anyway, another stunning performance by senior Anna Nelson who finished next for the Lexington girls in 20:30, a season PR of her own and led her to finish fourth overall. A couple other notable performances include sophomores Ashley Taylor (21:23) and Uma Sanker (21:29) running big time times and displaying Lexington’s depth. I would also like to note, it was comeback season for Viviane Daphne who left the sandals at home Saturday and whipped out the very fast looking red flats that led her to a respectable 22:48.
Although the Lexington girls put on a good show this Saturday, it wasn’t enough for the sub 10 minute 5ks the Winchester girls were running. While none of the Winchester girls actually broke 10, it was probably due solely to the tough terrain of the Lexington home course. However, they ran fast enough to just barely take home the win.
The real winners were the Lexington girls though, as always. I mean they got to run once again on their most favorite course ever and were totally not jealous or anything of the Lexington boys who got to run at Winchester’s course which just doesn’t contain Loring - or any hills for that matter. Funny story, while watching the JV race, a Winchester girl stopped to congratulate us on being able to run this course more than once which I really appreciated. She then continued to ask how we managed to do it and I took her phone number so that I could get back to her on that when I finally found an answer. In truth, the girls ran their hearts out as they always do. I’ve said it once, actually I say it at least three times every recap, but I’ll say it again, our home course is tough with a capital "T." Loring and Baskin are no match for the grit and toughness of the Lexington girls. Although our home course is brutal I think it is a testament to how strong we are as a team. The Lexington girls can bounce back like no other. If we can grow a new pair of legs at the bottom of Outlook on our way to our second Baskin hill, because one just wasn’t enough, we can most certainly come back from this. Reading better watch out on Thursday because the girls have no intention of finishing the 2020 season with anything other than a "W."
It’s good to be back,
Up Next
Thursday afternoon at 1:30pm the Lexington girls will toe the line to blast off against the Rockets from Reading for what will be the final meet of the 2020 COVID season.
