THE "ALUMNI RACE" RETURNS AS THE 13TH ANNUAL LEXINGTON 5K
Meet Information
13th Annual Lexington 5K "Alumni Race"
November 26, 2021
Lincoln Field - Lexington, MA
RESULTS
LEXINGTON, MA - After completing the race, an LHS Cross Country parent once said of the Annual Lexington 5K is "not your average turkey trot." Truer words could not be said to describe the 5000m course that winds through the neighborhood surrounding LHS. With the 2021 Cross Country season all but in the books, the Alumni Race was back for its 13th installment the morning after Thanksgiving. The race - which was started in 2008 as a fundraiser for the XC program - seems to always feature three things: terrible weather, tired legs, and tons of laughs but the competitors and spectators.
This year's race was no different. Current LHS junior Ian Miller took home the title in the men's race, pacing the field in a time of 19:32. On the women's side it was Cat Piper who was able to traverse the challenging hills ahead of the field. She finished with a winning time of 26:40. Along with the top overall finisher, LHS Class of 2020 Alum, and current member of the Washington University, St. Louis squad Micah Benson was the top men's finisher among former LHS harriers. He crossed the line with a time of 19:44. As for the women's alumni, it was fellow member of the Class of 2020 Summer Spencer who took the title with a time of 27:43.
Thank you to all who continue to support the Lexington High School Cross Country program each year! We will see everyone back at Lincoln Field next year for the next installment of this fantastic tradition.
