SENIORS LEAD THE MINUTEMEN TO VICTORY ON SENIOR DAY

LEXINGTON, MA - Tuesday, The Minutemen were back home for the final time this season to race off against the Woburn Tanners. While LHS's rivals do not have the firepower in the Fall that they bring on the track, anytime the black and orange singlets come to town it always brings out the best in the two teams. The Minutemen showed they are beginning to peak at the right time as the Boys cruised to victory by a score of 16-45. The Lex Girls got back in the win column as well with a 22-37 victory.

"Runner on the Course" by Serena Caira, Uma Sanker, and Ashley Taylor

Long time no see! Runner on the Course is back and better than ever. This meet was especially eventful to write about. Firstly, today was Senior Day, and full of special goodies and treats to honor the seniors who have put in so much time and dedication to the program this season and throughout their entire careers. So before we go any further, here's a special shout out to the seniors! Secondly, we were facing off against the Woburn Tanners and that meant the boys and girls would have to be at their very best.

Starting off with the varsity girls, there were quite a few PRs, including senior Clara Fu (19:36), junior Uma Sanker (20:55), senior Camelia Atassi (21:25), and junior Jasmine Sun (21:34). We’re entering PR season folks, and the streak is sure to continue for the last few meets of the season. The junior varsity girls also did quite well, being led by senior Casey Weisberg (22:40). Junior Sarah Lane followed behind seconds after with a time of 22:44, which was a new personal best. We also want to shout out the record-breaking amount of smiles we saw pushing up Loring. Maybe it was because of the chalked notes of encouragement on the hill, or the Taylor Swift playing as they passed (you’re welcome Ashley Taylor), but the girls definitely looked happier than usual on their last climb of the season.

Next up, we have the varsity boys, who for some strange reason didn’t seem as moved by the throwback playlist we were blasting. Not sure why. But I do know that I’ve never seen that many straight faces during Taio Cruz’s Dynamite. Well, except for Cormac. His majestic pose and unmatched energy as he passed us will go down in home course history. Another particular detail to note about the varsity boys’ race was that it was primarily composed of seniors. As such, there were many new faces seen in the varsity boys squad, and they all turned in very speedy performances. Along with the usual top senior runners for Lex, the Class of 2022 turned in a number of notable races. Dimitri Kontos (17:58), Nick Lam (18:19), Till Steines (18:19), and Amartya Jain (19:06) helped round out the top seven for The Minutemen. Also a special shoutout goes to Artha Tavshikar (19:25), Jerry Xia (19:27), and Takumi Wang (20:28) who all competed in their first career varsity XC races for LHS. Finishing off the day of celebration were the junior varsity boys. Leading the way for LHS, and all finishing within six seconds of each other were junior Kyle Taylor (18:26), freshman Max Zhang (18:27), and sophomores Joey Ryan and Toshio Yuki who finished with the identical time of 18:32.

See you guys next week at our meet against the Reading Rockets, where we will hopefully rock it (get it?) at our last dual meet of the season.

Up Next
The Minutemen are on the road for their final dual meet of the regular season on Tuesday, October 26th at 4:30pm when they travel to Reading. This will be the first time the boys and girls travel to Reading's new 5k course in the Reading Town Forest.
