RESULTS
LEXINGTON, MA - Tuesday The Minutemen welcomed the Red and Black of Winchester to town for the final dual meet of the season. For the Class of 2023, Senior Day marked the final time they will compete on LHS's Home Course in their careers. The 12th graders certainly went out in style as both the Boys and Girls teams dominated Winchester en route to a pair of victories. The Minutemen won by a score of 17 to 41 on the Boys side, while the Girls put up a nearly perfect score of 15-48. Winchester's Boys came to Lexington with a dual meet record of 4-1, which meant they needed a win over LHS to be able to capture a share of the Middlesex League Divisional Championship. LHS's Boys, simply would have none of it. Turning in their best performance of the year to date to prove emphatically that they are the class of the Liberty Division.
While fallen leaves and mid-race downpour made for slick conditions on LHS's road course, star junior Glenn Burcsu took the lead early in the race, bringing Winchester's Tyler Johnson and Wesley Kaukas-Quinn through the mile in a brisk 5:18. The Minutemen's next pack of senior captains Antonio Lopez and Aidan McPhee, as well as junior Joey "Candy Man" Ryan and sophomore Max Zhang hung back off the pace but surged over the second mile to catch Winchester's top-two. Burcsu would grind his way through the latter half of the race to win his second consecutive race, this time in 16:48. He was followed by the close knit pack of Lopez (17:00), Ryan (17:02), and McPhee (17:16), who placed second, third, and fourth respectively to seal the win. Zhang put a final stamp on the victory by placing seventh overall with a time of 17:48. Finishing sixth for The Minutemen - ninth overall - was senior Jackson Monks (18:01). Senior Jinn Janpathompong finished off his career on the Home Course with a time of 18:07. He was followed closely behind by sophomore Nathan Cunningham (18:08). Junior captain Toshio Yuki was the final varsity finisher for The Minutemen with a time of 18:42.
The Girls were once again led by superstar senior Ava Criniti. While the weather and slick conditions did not make for ideal racing, Criniti was still able to come across the line in 18:49. She was followed by fellow classmate, captain Mirra Payson. The senior harrier's time of 19:48 was a course PR, and a season best time for 5k. Along with Payson's big day, senior captain Uma Sanker improved her Home Course PR by 21-seconds to break the elusive 20-minute barrier with a time of 19:57. That time placed her third overall. Another PR was turned in by freshman Nadia Abdinoor. The ninth grader ran 20:45 to place fourth. Finishing off the sweep after a hard charge to the finish was junior Dora Liao. She bested Winchester's top runner by just one-second with a PR of 20:50. Senior Jasmine Sun (20:59) and freshman Meghan Caldera (21:04) finished sixth and seventh respectively. Rounding out the top-10 for The Minutemen was senior Ashley Taylor (21:33), and sophomores Mirei Saneyoshi (21:43) and Claire Cunningham (21:59).

With the Dual Meet Season behind them, The Minutemen now turn to Championship Season. Monday, LHS will toe the line at the 52nd Annual Middlesex League Championships. A co-ed freshmen 3k will start promptly at 2:30pm, followed by the 5k Championship Races, and finishing with JV Boys and Girls Races.
