RUNNING FOR PRIDE; SELECT GROUP OF LHS BOYS COMPETE AT COACHES INVITATIONAL
Meet Information
MSTCA Frank Mooney Coaches Invitational
November 2, 2019
Wrentham Developmental Park - Wrentham, MA
RESULTS
WRENTHAM, MA - This past weekend a group of boys decided that after a summers' worth of training, and a fall full of racing, they needed one more meet with which to end their year on the trails. The annual Coaches Invite provided them with that opportunity. In a meet where athletes compete in class specific races with no team titles on the line, The Minutemen had 23 boys travel down to the fields of Wrentham to challenge themselves one final time. LHS's two fastest times on the day came in the Sophomore Race where The Minutemen put three runners in the top 10 overall. Graham Bracken led the way with a personal best time of 17:06.43 to finish fifth. He was followed by Evan Eberle whose 17:17:10 placed sixth. Daniel Ramsey was next across the line in eighth place with a time of 17:23.45. Despite no team titles being awarded on the day, Noah Quadri (17:25.40) and Nick Lam (17:40.60) turned in 12th and 23rd places respectively to easily seal what would have been a 53 point victory for the sophomore class.
Highlights from the Races:
Running in the 3k Freshmen Race, Antonio Lopez capped off a tremendous debut season at LHS by finishing 15th overall in a time of 10:48.05. Next across the line was Kyle Taylor who ran a huge PR - 10:58.17 - to grab 34th in the race. Along with Lopez and Taylor, Aidan McPhee was able to land inside the top 50 with a time of 11:00.30. The Junior Race saw Reed Solomon continue his breakout season for The Minutemen. Running another PR - 17:23.32 - he finished 19th overall with the third fastest time among Lexington harriers. Nate Croke was next for LHS with a time of 17:47.10 to finish 31st.
While everyone was looking for one more race to end the season, the senior trio of Jack Stevens, Justin Liu, and Jake Venzke-Kondo were capping off their LHS Cross Country careers. None of these young men are captains but simply by showing up every day and turning in maximum effort they certainly have helped to set the tone for what could be described as a golden era of success for The Minutemen's program; Saturday was no different. Stevens was the first LHS runner across the finish line in the Senior Race running 39th in 17:50.53. Liu was next in a time of 17:58.97, good enough for 55th overall. Venzke-Kondo was the last of the three, finishing with a strong performance by running 18:38.39 - 92nd overall. Thank you to these three runners for giving this program your very best for the past four years.
Up Next
